Just wondering of anyone else is suffering from hiperemesis gravidarum and can offer any tips on what to eat and how to feel better? I ended up in hospital over the weekend after 24 hours of constant vomiting, which continued to get worse. I was dehydrated and needed IV fluids, vitamins and antisickness. I'm now taking medication to stop sickness but still feeling very queezy and exhausted from the medication. I can't seem to find any foods that appeal to me! Just want to feel better, anyone have any tips?
I'm only 6 weeks pregnant and so scared its just going to continue to get worse.

I had HG until I was 18 weeks pregnant and nothing helped, I was in and out of hospital the full 18 weeks but my son is 6 weeks old now and honestly he was worth everything I went through, I know it doesn't feel like it right now but I promise It is, just take it a day at a time hopefully some days are better than others - I ate small but often and drank as much water as I could. It was hard to keep down but I survived, just watch out for a really sore chest, it can cause a blood clot in the lung (unlikely) but I had to be checked for one, hope it's over for you soon xx

There is a great thread on HG Where you will find lots of support!
It's on the pregnancy board, sorry
I don't know how to link.

Hope you feel better, and congratulations xx

Thank you both for the replies.
@bunhead34 i will look for that thread thank you
@HarleyQuinn21 Thanks, I know it will be worth it in the end and this baby is so wanted. I keep telling myself I need to be grateful that baby is fine, though it is very early I was given an early scan to check for multiples and all was good. Were you given medication to try to manage it? I've been trying to snack throughout the day, seem to be living off bread and crackers at the moment.

I suffered from HG terribly from 5 and a half weeks, I’m 23 weeks now and whilst I haven’t been sick in almost 2 weeks the nausea is still there. I found the best things to drink were orange juice, lemonade or water with lots of squash when I was at my worst. I couldn’t bear to drink water on its own, I don’t know what it was but drinking it made me more sick! It doesn’t matter if what you drink isn’t water, just as long as if you’re drinking something. Food wise I could only eat bread for about 5 weeks at one point, so again whatever you can stomach to eat is best! Even if it’s a bit of dry toast, that’s fine. Anything plain that doesn’t have strong smells or tastes are things you should eat right now. Pasta on its own, plain crossaints, dry toast, cereal like crunchy nut but with no milk, ritz crackers (I found the Jacobs crackers just a tad too plain). Can you stomach any cheese? You could try having cheese sandwiches or cheese on crackers. Remember don’t beat yourself up about it. You’re doing the best you can. And ignore ANYONE that says ‘try ginger or nibbling on some crackers before getting out of bed!’ they do not help whatsoever in terms of HG. And if you feel yourself getting dehydrated again or you haven’t eaten in over 24 hours, go back for more fluids. Don’t feel guilty about going, you need to do what’s best for you and your baby.

Good luck with everything and I hope it gets easier for you 🤞🏼

Hey girl!

Im suffering! Been into hospital and now finally got medication sorted. 3 x cyclazine and 3 x ondansetron a day and I’ve stopped vomiting and can now keep down food and start returning to my weight.

My advice is to eat anything you possible can feel ok about even if it’s super unhealthy.

My other advice is also to know that when looking others stories up online please know that usually it’s the people with the worst horror stories commenting. I know that has really freaked me out hearing these horrendous stories, but people with less “exciting” stories usually aren’t telling them online. So don’t always assume the worst will happen to you.

Hopefully you can keep your head up for a few more weeks and things will hopefully get a little easier. I’m 10 + 3 and I’m starting to feel a little better.

There’s hope xx
