Elective caesarean UHMB trust

Hello all

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and strongly considering requesting an elective c section at my next midwife appointment. I don't really want to get into all the reasons as I've read a lot of previous threads on here discussing the same thing and I'm asking more about the process than the details.

I'm not dead set on the idea but I would at least like the opportunity to speak to a consultant and discuss my concerns. My experience so far is that my midwife appointments are rushed and the one I see most doesn't strike me as the most knowledgeable or interested, so I anticipate getting past her to be the biggest hurdle to being able to discuss it properly!

I know it seems to vary a lot by hospital and trust- has anyone requested one within the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay trust who would be willing to let me know how that was treated?

Thank you

Not got any helpful info unfortunately but I'm a FTM and under UHMBT so following.

I have also found that my midwife isn't great, the consultant is fab but my community one is a bit useless :(

Fingers crossed you find an answer and when you ask that they listen :)

The process is generally the same where ever you are - youll need to start mentioning it to your midwife over the next couple of weeks - they will make the referral to speak to a consultant - generally by 36 weeks at least. Without medical need they'll likely expect you to go to a psychiatrist to have it signed off. It can take several weeks to get the approval and expect to be talked out of it several times

Also lots of hospitals don't offer elective c sections so you may have to go to a hospital which you wouldn't necessarily have chosen to have it
