I was taking Pregnacare conception prior to becoming pregnant then I started taking Pregnacare Original. I was prescribed 5mg of Folic Acid for the next two weeks (I'm 10wks now so that will take me to 12wks) so I have stopped taking the Pregnacare Original. Can you continue Pregnacare Original after the 12 weeks and throughout the rest of pregnancy?

Yes, you can, and Boots/supermarkets do their own versions which are generally cheaper.

@Twistedlogic thank you for your reply, I've got a couple of boxes of the Pregnacare left so I will use them up and then look for alternative/cheaper ones ☺️

Yep. My midwife said they now recommend folic acid for the full pregnancy due to research linking it to brain development.

You can still take 5mg folic acid alongside your pregnacare as it has all the other vitamins in that are beneficial , I had the discussion with my midwife on monday

Thank you for your replies ☺️

It won't do any harm to keep taking it but my midwife advised it wasn't necessary and you could just take vitamin D from 12 weeks

I take Pregnacare and my midwife advised me at my booking appointment to continue taking it throughout the whole of my pregnancy. I did that last time too.
