First movements 17 weeks !? Muscle twitches

Hi everyone,

I was 17 weeks pregnant yesterday and for about a week I've been noticing what feels like small muscle twitches, like the little ones you get in your eyelid/eyebrow or leg involuntarily, but in my lower abdomen.

I've only been able to feel them from the inside since it started which made sense but this morning I had my hand exactly where I kept feeling it and I felt a tiny twitch from the outside. Is this my baby? I thought I'd only be able to feel it from the inside for ages.

It's not gas or bloating as that is a total different feeling/place.

That's what it felt like when I first felt movements. So exiting!

That’s exactly what mine felt like! Give it another few weeks and there will be no mistaking those little kicks and prods.

Exactly what it felt like to me my entire pregnancy! Took me a couple of days to twig that it was him moving and not my muscles going crazy haha. Congratulations!

I am 18+1 today and the last week or so I have felt a very subtle vibrating sensation lower down. Wasn’t sure at first but a couple of days ago I coughed quite hard and straight after I felt that same feeling so I am pretty sure it is baby! It’s not everyday at the minute but keep hoping to feel it again! I think yours definitely sounds like baby too

That is what my early movements felt like a mix of when you have an eye twitch and when you can feel your pulse in your lips.

They say if it's the first you will feel flutters around 17 weeks and then a few weeks later your feel the kicks. I'm 17+5 today and I have had flutters for the last 2 weeks or so and today felt my first kick with my hand. This is my 5th baby so you feel them earlier with each baby x

Yes, definitely sounds like you are feeling the first movements - so precious!

I agree with everyone - at about 17, 18 weeks I felt tiny flicks from inside so that is defo baby making their self known to you.

Yeah that's what mine were like too. I wasn't sure at first because it didn't seem to tally with descriptions I'd read which mentioned flutters or a sensation like bubbles popping. Mine were much more like muscle twitches. 22wks now and the movement is much stronger.
