Cyclizine... is this normal?

Will be 9 weeks on Saturday, bad morning sickness vomiting multiple times a day, so doctor put me on cyclizine.

It does seem to be helping, but has also made me more tired. This is my current routine (doc signed me off work for a week).

7am - wake up briefly
7:30 - back to sleep
11 - wake up
2 - back to sleep
5 - wake up
9 - bed for the night

I know it’s normal to be tired in pregnancy and that the pills cause drowsiness, but a little worried about how I’m going to go back to work next week! Any advice or other experiences please?

I found during the first couple of weeks of taking it I was super sleepy within an hour and would often nod off! My body seemed to get used to it though and that particular affect didn’t last very long. If you’re worried though definitely speak to your GP again.

I’ve had cyclizine before for something unrelated to pregnancy but it completed knocked me out when I took it! I needed the sleep though so it was a lifesaver for me at the time 😂 but I only took it for 2 days and about 3 days after the last dose I was still feeling a bit spacey so took a few days to leave my system completely

I found it made me feel spaced out so I started taking half tablets which was a happy medium as it still took the edge off the sickness. I’d take a higher dose if I were at home and not at work knowing I could just nap if needed.

I have been given cyclizine as I am 9+5 weeks and had awful sickness. I think a mix of your hormones and everything pregnancy related makes you tired before adding antihistamines to the mix. It is normal to feel tired.. I am now asking myself when will this nausea end I can’t take anymore of it 😢 cyclizine hasn’t worked for me.

Cyclizine didn't work for me, it made me feel absolutely dreadful. Like a zombie. My GP switched me to phenergan and it's been like night and day. Completely stopped my nausea and it didn't make me sleepy or dopey. I really believe it's not a one size fits all answer when it comes to pregnancy sickness medication so don't be afraid to try something else.

Hi everyone, thanks for your answers Smile I don’t think cyclizine is working for me Sad was still sick twice yesterday. What medications worked for you?
