Blood clot found at 20 week scan

So this is my 3rd baby, and I've done 2.5 pregnancies without ever posting on a forum (though I've referred to them many a time).

I had my anomaly scan today and everything is looking great with the baby which is fantastic! Right at the end the sonographer identified something that she is fairly confident is a blood clot in my uterus, that would be an indication of some previous internal bleeding. I haven't had any bleeding, not a dot. Placenta is in the right place, etc.

There is relatively limited information around about these in second trimester (must more about first trimester). What I have read is that they can cause more complications in the second trimester. On the other side, the sonographer said that it may well just reabsorb/disappear.

She told me not to panic but that protocol is to book a follow up growth scan and a referral to the consultant, which we have done for end of March.

So, I am not panicking, but I find things like this much easier if I am as informed as possible.

Has anyone had a similar experience. If so, it would really help to hear about your experiences, even the negative ones (please don't hold back).

I know you posted this a while ago, but was wondering how you got on?
I had my anomaly scan today, second baby, similarly to you everything looked fine with baby (which is great) but small area of blood indicating previous internal bleed. A scan at 17 weeks for other reasons showed a small blood clot that has since reabsorbed. Assuming the same will happen with this bit of blood, but hoping the bleeding doesn't get any worse/end in placental abruption as pregnancy progresses...how were your second/third trimesters?
I have also not had any external bleeding at all, placenta in the right place etc. Booked for growth scans at 28, 32, 36 weeks - though they said this was due to DD1 being 3rd centile for my height/weight.

Would be really grateful to hear your experience, I can't find any helpful information about this!
