Hi has anyone experienced subchorionic hematoma/implantation bleed.

I found out i had this when i was 5 weeks pregnant.

I am 8 weeks now i still get the brown/red spotting.

i wanted to know when it will stop .

i'm really scared as i have had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and a termination of pregnancy due to fetal abnormality at 20 weeks last year ?

Has anyone had this ?

I had a hematoma around 7 weeks and it stopped completely after a few weeks. I had a scan at 11 weeks and it was gone. I am now nearly 14 weeks and all is fine. I hope you have a similar outcome.

Dhano21 · 03/03/2021 12:34

@Crazylemon86 did you have spotting continually like every day?

did you have brown/red spotting.

Since yesterday i have had spotting every time i wipe down there .

I have a bleed around babies sac I’m assuming that’s the same thing according to google? I’ve not bled or spotted, I was picked up on an early scan. I have my nhs dating scan next week I’m hoping it will be gone

Crazylemon86 · 03/03/2021 12:46

@Dhano21 I had the brown bleeding every day but only when I wiped. I was very lucky as only had the red on the one day. I think depending on size they can just take a long time to heal. I know that doesn't help the worrying but hopefully you can get a scan soon to reassure you

I have this. Have been spotting or bleeding since 15dpo, one day post +ve test. I am almost 10 weeks now. I have had very few days of no spotting at all. Its a mix of bright red, dark brown and everything in between. I've had 3 scans now and they said the hematoma is close to my cervix which would explain the constant spotting. Mine is small and they assure me nothing to worry about. It is unnerving but I am learning to live with it.

Dhano21 · 03/03/2021 13:31

@Ummm21 do you sometimes get mild cramps too ?

OP posts:
Ummm21 · 03/03/2021 13:37

@Dhano21 yes I do but that could be unrelated as cramps are pretty normal in early pregnancy

Dhano21 · 03/03/2021 13:44

@Ummm21 Thank you i think i'm just going to have to learn to live with . it's so fucking scary. i just want the bleed to resolve

@dhano21 It sure is, especially with what you've already been through. I freaked out a few times at first but each somographer has been so relaxed about it I have to assume it really isn't a cause for concern at the moment. Our 9 week scan was very reassuring as baby was wriggling around in there. Have you had another scan?

MeadowHay · 03/03/2021 13:55

I had brown spotting on and off from implantation to about 7 weeks when it increased to daily and needing to change a liner approx 3 times a day. So more than spotting but less than bleeding and always brown. I had a scan at EPAU at 7+2 and they said everything looks fine and no need to contact them again unless I get significant pain or the blood goes red. I don't really feel reassured as no explanation for the bleeding was given and I didn't have any with my first. I'm 9 weeks now and just anxiously awaiting my next scan.

Dhano21 · 03/03/2021 13:56

@Ummm21 i paid for a private scan last week and i'm really tempted to go for another scan but a sonographer said i shouldn't do weekly scan.

I had a subchorionic haematoma which caused spotting (small amounts) on and off for the first trimester. This wasn’t picked up as the causes of the spotting but I’m assuming that it was. I think they are usually absorbed back into the body eventually but in my case it haemorrhaged at 12 weeks and lost lots of blood in a short space of time. Felt scary but baby was fine. I then continued to bleed for about a month, and I was told that was normal after a haemorrhage as it’s just all of the old blood now leaving. Wasn’t particularly nice but baby was totally fine throughout and is now a 2 year old.

Spillanelle · 03/03/2021 14:47

Sorry, just realised my post was probably a bit scary and don’t want to cause you more worry. It’s just I was never told I had a haematoma and didn’t realise that they can haemorrhage so it was really shocking when it happened, and I assumed the worst. So just wanted to prepare you that it’s very rare but they can haemorrhage and if it happens then don’t panic as in most cases it seems not to impact baby

MeadowHay · 03/03/2021 14:52

Why did they not tell you you had one? I'm suspecting strongly that I have one as I have the exact symptoms you're describing but I had a scan at the EPAU and they said everything's fine and didn't mention it.

Spillanelle · 03/03/2021 14:59

@MeadowHay in my case I think they just didn’t spot it. I had a few early scans at EPU and no mention of a haematoma until after it haemorrhaged. I think also they can only see it on the scan when it’s a certain size, and they can develop, so it may not have been visible when I had the early scans and then it grew after that.

There are other reasons why you might have spotting though and it’s not unusual in early pregnancy.

Dhano21 · 04/03/2021 07:41

hi has anyone had a blood clot come out of it and I've had a small blood clot just come out of me and I am freaking out

I did one about the size of a 50p piece and bright red when I was just about 7 weeks. I called the EPAU and they had me in for a scan the next day and there was no problems and I've not had any more (now 9 weeks). I would call the EPAU if it was bright red blood.
