16 weeks and ketones

Hi,

Just looking for some advice. I've just had my 15 week appt with midwife, I'm 16 weeks. We had a private scan and seen baby today, he's doing great.

I tested quite high for ketones (she didn't specify how high just high, no number given)

She said I'm not looking after myself properly and need to eat more.

I'm eating healthily and make sure I have brown carbs, I've recently started a placement as a student nurse so I'm doing long 13.5 hour shifts with two half an hour breaks per day.

I eat beans on toast and a banana of a morning, followed by tuna pasta salad and a cereal bar with grapes or cherry tomatoes as my dinner

Usually, I'll have toast before bed as I'm usually to exhausted to cook.

On days off, I thought I ate great but DH has now said he's been concerned about my "lack of eating" for a while. He works the majority of the time and I'm quite upset really, I have a one year old so I definetly do eat 3 times a day with him and I snack on healthy things.

I'm gaining weight, quite a lot of weight and I'm the bigger side of the normal BMI.

I definetly don't want to harm my baby but I just don't know what I'm doing wrong? We have type 1 diabetes in my family (sister and mum) so I'm conscious of that.

I feel abit deflated having had a lovely morning seeing our son and now being made to feel like I'm starving my baby when I'm trying my best. I actually thought I ate too much prior to today.

@Loti92 I do drink so much water, I definetly did today because I've been drinking a lot prior to scan, I'm also craving ice water so I'm always hydrated.

I thought I ate well, but now I'm worried I'm not eating enough when I'm on shift. I am so scared of developing diabetes. I'm gaining so much weight though im absolutely massive I look about 7 months pregnant but they're telling me I need to eat more

My DS was born early at 10lb 1 and we had no diabetes, so I'm really concerned
