Hi there,

Just wondering for anyone prescribed aspirin to prevent pre-eclampsia, when were you told to stop taking it? I read it can delay labour and also risk of haemorrhage so don't want to take right up to due date

I asked my midwife about this and she said to take all the way up to labour is the new advice.

36 weeks I've been told to stop mine. I have pre eclampsia anyway though.

Thanks! I just figured that by 36 weeks you either have it or don't? I just have a moderate risk as first pregnancy and family history.

@Sawa75 no that isn’t right. It can develop even late on in pregnancy and I have seen it develop every quickly. Taking aspirin the whole way through is fine and aspirin won’t delay labour. We give women spinal anaesthetics who are on it with no extra concerns!

I've been told to take it from 12-36 weeks.
I'm only on it because my mum had it, so more of a precaution.

Me too my mum had it. It can prevent preterm labour why wouldn't it be a hindrance to full term labour?

I was told to stop at 36 weeks - also on it as first pregnancy and my mum had pre-eclampsia.
