When was your '12 week' scan?

Hi

I'm pregnant with my second and I've just found out my 12 week scan is when I'm 13+2. I appreciate this is still within the 14 week mark, however I am a little concerned that this is pushing it? I would like to have the 12 week tests for baby and I know if you're over 14 weeks they can't do it. With my first pregnancy I measured over a week apart from a private scan at 10 weeks to my nhs one at 12 weeks, so I'm worried if I get to the hospital and measure at 14+1 rather than 13+2. Maybe I'm over worrying but it just wasn't like this with my first! The hospital haven't been helpful with me at all and told me to pay for it doing if I'm that concerned. My midwife is only part time and I can't speak to her until the end of the week so I'm just a little upset about the whole situation. It's even more stressful as my partner works away so I just really want to know what's going on.

Thank you x

I was 13+ 2
It's totally fine , I had all tests
Wouldn't worry at all x

SmidgenofaPigeon · 01/03/2021 10:47

Mine will be bang on 12 weeks, which I’m grateful for.

I haven’t paid for anything private. I’m too nervous incase anything is wrong and I’m not in the best place to get it dealt with.

alixxx1 · 01/03/2021 10:47

@3rdtimemomma did they book you in at 13+2 or is that just what you measured when you were there? X

I was 12+3wk by lmp, dated at 13wk at my scan with this one. All tests were completed with no issues and results came within a week.
The most my dates have been moved by was 10 days with our eldest but they didn't do the NT test back then so it wasn't an issue. They can do other tests if you are dated 14wk+ anyway so don't worry too much. Good luck

My husband works away too so I feel your pain there.

UnsureOfNC · 01/03/2021 10:50

I was 13+6 with number 1 and then 12 exactly with number 2Smile

Inmypjsagain · 01/03/2021 11:37

Mine was at 14 weeks on the nose, they knew that was my date when I was booked in, in fact they measured me 14 + 1 at the scan. think they can do tests up to 14+2 but either way they were able to do all the tests on me, I was worried they wouldn’t. If you can’t get measurements they can do other tests later down the line.... doesn’t stop it being really annoying when you get the scan so late though!

Jchina · 01/03/2021 11:52

It should be fine if your dates are accurate, but maybe worth a call to ease your mind and see if they can fit you in earlier. I was 12+4 by my dates at my scan but measured 13+3 (which I still dispute as impossible but there you go!)

Mmr224 · 01/03/2021 11:56

I was 13+4 but was IVF so knew dates were accurate

alixxx1 · 01/03/2021 12:07

@Jchina this is what I'm worried about, that there's a chance I could be over 13+2. I've called but they're no use, they won't bring it forward unless I pay for a private scan beforehand and they measure me as further along x

@alixxx1 I get your frustration - I'm FTM so that worries me; my midwife has already said I'm looking at late week 12/13 because of how many women are pregnant here.

Everyone on this thread seems to say it's fine though so maybe it is and just check in with your midwife about it/ bringing it forward. I will if I get an appointment in week 13.

The idea of tests later down the line worries me - what are they? Amnio? Eeeek x

Inmypjsagain · 01/03/2021 12:28

@ILovebountys my friend’s baby was in an awkward position at her 12 week scan so they couldn’t get measurements, am quite sure she had the quad test :www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/pregnancy-health/prenatal-testing-quad-screen/ (no personal experience of it though)

Chelyanne · 01/03/2021 12:29

@ILoveBountys amnio is only offered if blood tests show you as high risk.
There are blood tests on NHS but they are a little less reliable than the combined test.
There is the harmony test which is much less invasive than amnio and has over 99% accuracy of detecting problems, not sure if that is offered via NHS though or you have to go private.

ladywithnomanors · 01/03/2021 12:36

Mine was at 14 weeks with Dc1.
I didn’t have them with my other DC’s - just an anomaly scan at 20 weeks

Maybebaby29 · 01/03/2021 12:41

Mine scan is next Wednesday, from my lmp I should be bang on 12 weeks but I had a private scan and baby is measuring 10 days ahead! So I will be 13 + 3, I’m the same I’m worried if baby is measuring ahead even more they won’t be able to take the measurements, I was considering trying to move it forward

ILoveBountys · 01/03/2021 12:44

@Inmypjsagain @Chelyanne Ooh thank goodness a blood test! and thank you for the link.

Yeah no NIPT on NHS here so we'd book privately if needed. To be honest I've got myself in a bit of mess about it all; the waiting + the internet are not a good match sometimes!

thanks both xx

3rdtimemomma · 01/03/2021 15:08

@alixxx1 that's just when I was booked in, i knew I'd be that.
It was all fine, there was just a little back log due to covid x

WalkingMeAway · 01/03/2021 17:04

I was booked in for 12+2 but was actually 13+2 so it is a possibility. If this happens to you and they can’t do the NT measurement you can still have the quadruple blood test for downs. I don’t think it covers Edwards or Pataus though.

Chanel05 · 01/03/2021 17:18

12+6, 13+2 is fine

3rdtimemomma · 01/03/2021 17:19

I'm sure the bloods definitely cover the other 2 syndromes too.
If it is a problem, depending on your financial situation to see if you can have tests separately early. X

elliejjtiny · 01/03/2021 17:25

13+2, 9+1, 10+2, 17+3, 13+1, 12+2, 11+3

The 9+1 was because I had spotting and they brought it forward, the 17+3 was because I didn't tell the gp I was pregnant until I was 10 weeks.

Alyosha · 01/03/2021 17:32

12+1 but turned out to be 12+5. I understand your concern as in your situation I would have been at 14 weeks and at the cut off. How sure are you of your dates?

Alyosha · 01/03/2021 17:33

Oh and first pregnancy was the opposite, 12+3 but was actually 11+6.

RunawayBride2 · 01/03/2021 17:33

13 + 6
That was 8 years ago
