Uti/ cystitis while pregnant

I usually get cystitis but never this bad, I am in agony and haven’t slept a wink. It burns when I wee and it’s so painful to press even lightly on my bladder.

Anyone idea what I can get to ease it on a Sunday? I think I need antibiotics but can’t wait another day. I have some stuff at home but they aren’t recommended in pregnancy Sad

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

When I had a UTI at 10w the GP sent me to A&E from the surgery (pre-Covid) as it’s risky in pregnancy. Probably right now it’s better to call than go. There are antibiotics that are safe for the foetus.

Is there an out of hours doc near you? UTI's in pregnancy need to be treated fairly urgently if i understand correctly. I had a symptomless UTI and my doctor insisted on immediate antibiotics when it was caught (incidental finding on urinalysis) - they were very insistent.

Oh I didn’t know that! I’ll look into it. Thanks Sad I’m usually quite prone to them so I’m not surprised I have one but it’s so much worse than normal.

Definitely contact gp or out of hours. I had repeated cystitis when pregnant and it turned out DS was positioned to put pressure on one of my ureters and I ended up in hospital with a kidney infection.

If you're in the UK, call the NHS helpline. They'll get you in somewhere.
They need to be treated ASAP because it going to your kidneys when pregnant is dangerous

I called 111 and waiting for a call back now. Thanks everyone

Yeah they will treat as risk of kidney infection especially during pregnancy. It would be super useful to provide a urine sample if you keep getting recurrent UTIs
