Feeling sick - Food poisoning???

Last night I started feeling a bit rough. Kind of the way you feel after you have had a D&V bug. Bit queasy but not actually being sick.

There is a bug going around our family at the moment but I have been doing my best to keep away from them.

My worry is that I went to a bbq last night and although I stayed away from the bbq'd food, I did eat a baked potato with chilli (heated from a tin and then put in a warming cabinet). After my first (huge) mouthful, I realised it wasn't piping hot just lukewarm so I scraped it off and just ate the potato although there was still the remains of the chilli on it. I started feeling queasy about 2 hours after I ate it. Could this be food poisoning or the start of a bug. I had a bug with my first so I am not so worried if it is that (although I don't really want it. Just worried if it is food poisoning. Could this hurt my baby???

my experience of food poisoning is that it kicks in really hard, you don't get a lot of warning. And it to be anything that will harm the baby you'd be really unwell and really know about it!!

Sounds like its prob a lot to do with you thinking/worrying about it and getting yourself worked up. If it was food poisoning then believe me you'd know about it!!

Hope this makes you feel better xx

I wouldn't worry. I think that if what you ate was going to affect you, you'd know by now.

I currently am suffering from food poisoning - I think I ate a dodgy egg sarnie Saturday teattime. On Sunday, started off as bad stomach ache and then by Sunday evening into projectile vomiting. Not fun when you are 33 weeks pg! I would ring your GP/Midwife for advice. I rang NHS direct last night for advice they said pretty much the same thing. If you don't feel like eating, try at least to take small sips of water to stop getting dehydrated - though easier said than done, as at one point couldn't keep water down. Still feeling wretched now, but not so sick. DH has it too so I know it is food poisoning.

I still haven't been sick and have been eating normally. I think it must just be a mild version of the bug that is going around. I just thought that bug or food poisoning would get worse and I would be vomiting by now. The feeling is like I have had a bug and it is the next day and still feel queasy. It is so weird.
