Hi ladies I'm 36. Have 2 kids aged 3 and 5. Would appreciate anyones advice or experience p/s. Had a mc late jan at 11 weeks. Af came back around 4 weeks. I read and thought it would be heavier, longer etc. I had a few cramps, felt a bit tired and cold as I normally do but it wasnt heavy but was lighter than normal and also lasted for 5 days as normal. Is this normal or will i bleed again in a few days? I want to ttc and start testing after my first AF as advised from the EPU. Was my first period normal. Is it safe ttc and will I ovulate? Thank you

I had a ridiculously light first period after mc then exactly 28 days later a very heavy one.

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 06:51

@dippyegg32 thanks for your reply hun. Do you know if you ovulated between the light and heavy period?

I'm sorry to hear of your MC. My first period after MC was 2weeks late and very light. Don't think I ovulated that month but we left it a month before trying again. The next on was more normal.

dippyegg32 · 28/02/2021 07:17

Yes defo ovulated before both (confirmed on scans)

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 07:31

@dippyegg32 ok thanks. Tracking so hopefully will pick up if I am or not. Thank you

@Herewegoagain2021 thanks for your reply. So it's possible to have not ovulated. That's interested. Thank you

Mine was light too, and I did ovulate before

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 09:50

@TheDaydreamBelievers hiya thanks for your reply. So you ovulated after that light period. Did you ttc as well? How was your second period?

OP posts:
TheDaydreamBelievers · 28/02/2021 09:55

@Lizbb sorry to be unclear, I ovulated BEFORE the light period. So:
MC surgery
8 weeks until negative preg test and positive ovulation test
Then a light period.
Now CD36 of next cycle and havent ovulated (but my cycles were all over the place and super long before conceiving so this probably doesnt apply to you)

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 09:59

@TheDaydreamBelievers awww ok thanks lol. Are you testing though?

@TheDaydreamBelievers sorry typing error. 'Were you testing' and how long did it take to finally conceive after mc. Thanks hun

I’m 38 and after my first mc just over a year ago my period returned a couple of weeks later, lasting only 2 days (as opposed to my usual 4) and super light. Like I could have got away with one tampon. The second day was pretty much just on wiping.

I put it down to things being messed up following the mc, but ever since then, and it’s now over a year later, that was my new period pattern - 2 days and super light.

I had 3 more mc’s over that year and was so worried it was down to my periods being lighter etc. But after being referred to a fertility specialist she confirmed it wouldn’t affect anything.

It obviously didn’t as I’d been tracking ovulation the entire time and was still always ovulating, and now here I am currently 10 weeks pregnant.

Really hoping that after this baby my periods stay at the 2 days long and light. They were super easy to deal with!

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 11:51

@Moominmiss congrats hun 🥰 I pray this baby stays till full term. Ol that's good to know thank you. Cd2 and I've been tracking and will do until my app says I'm ovulating on 07.03. I came off the pill in nov and missed my period in dec. Praying I take in quickly. Read that sometimes after coming off the pill your system needs to readjust and I wasnt taking any supplements to prepare myself. Mow I'm on bcomplex. Vit d and folic. What supplements helped you p/s? I bet your so excited hope everything is looking good. You should have more scans

@Lizbb this is only my second cycle since MC so havent conceived yet. I test using OPKs each day and temp and no positive yet.

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 17:37

@TheDaydreamBelievers sorry to hear that you havent yet ovulated. Body I guess still needs to settle. Are u sure its not the test strips ur using. Maybe worth using digital and the cheap strips.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 28/02/2021 17:41

@Lizbb my cycles have never been a normal length post pill and this cycle is already super long. Temps also show no ovulation, so pretty sure nothing has happened yet

Moominmiss · 28/02/2021 17:42

@Lizbb I truly hope it happens quickly for you and you have a healthy pregnancy.

Whilst ttc I was taking a higher dose (5mg) folic acid, high dose of vit d, along with 200mg of ubiquinol. Because I’m older it’s recommended to help improve egg quality.

The cycle I conceived this current baby that seems to be sticking I also took 150mg aspirin from 1dpo.

I’m currently still taking the aspirin, folic acid and vit d.

Sending you lots of luck! X

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 17:58

@Moominmiss thanks hun. Which ubiquinol did you purchase please. I'm 37 in nov so looking for anything that will help. Does it need to be prescribed by gp or doc? After this mc my gp was like if it happens again she will do test 🤷‍♀️.

@TheDaydreamBelievers hopefully you hit your peak soon.

Moominmiss · 28/02/2021 18:34

@Lizbb I bought my ubiquinol from nature’s best, will attach a link. It wasn’t prescribed or anything. It’s quite pricey but for me was well worth it as it is recommended for older women who are ttc.

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 18:39

@Moominmiss thank u hun. Read about this. Might ask gp first before using or if after a few months trying. Bless Smile

Lizbb · 28/02/2021 20:00

@Moominmiss sorry question p/s. When did you take ubiquinol. Was it around ovulation or everyday till u hit the bfp? Thanks

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 28/02/2021 20:03

@Lizbb I took it every day of my cycle. Like most vitamins it takes a few months for a good supply to build up in your system.
I would just take it in the morning at the same time as my folic acid and vit d x

Did you have surgical management of your miscarriage? If so, and if periods are continually very light then it’s worth asking for a hysteroscopy to rule out Ascherman’s, which is where the scarring can cause problems with the uterus. Rare but worth keeping an eye. After my recent miscarriage, and the number of surgeries I’d had, I was offered one to check.
