I had a sweep today cervix was closed so she was unable to do the sweep properly etc booked in next Wed to be induced.. any chance although cervix is closed I may labour before then? Read so many horror stories about inductions im quite worried any reassurance would be great please! They cant book me in for another sweep because they have no availability

Hi @1990fran I'm the exact same gestation as you (think I remember you from another thread?) and in the same boat; have a midwife appt and possible sweep tomorrow but might not be possible. Pessary induction booked for Tuesday.

What kind of induction are you booked for? I'm going to push for two tries with a pessary as outpatient before I go in for the drip. I'm similarly quite nervous about the possibility of induction, continuous monitoring etc as my original goal was a home birth!

@elfran hello! I have no idea what kind! Midwife never mentioned anything to me about that all she said was i have to go in 9.30 pm partner not allowed in :( only 2pm to 7pm im so bloomin nervous about it all haha, I hope the midwife appointment goes well for you x

Hey, with my second pregnancy i was booked for induction, had sweep on the Monday and cervix was closed, said she couldn't do the sweep! I was gutted but went into labour 3 days later and had a lovely relaxed natural birth!
However, with my third I had 2 sweeps a week apart and was told both were successful and I was already 2cm dilated but I still didn't go in to labour and I still ended up being induced exactly 2 weeks after my first sweep! It really wasn't that bad. A lot more intense than the natural birth as in the contractions come on quick and fast but really the pain itself was the same!
Try not to worry and embrace it! I felt so anxious going in and looking back it really wasn't that bad!
Good luck xx

Not all inductions are a nightmare, I had an induction, had to have about 4 pessaries though so took a while but was fine. Waters broken and baby came a few hours later. Try not to panic and just go with the flow.

Try not to worry, I know plenty of people who had a positive induction experience. I went into labour a few hours after one pessary and baby was out four hours later with no pain relief needed. Good luck.
