No idea what's going on

I am really stunned today to have positive pregnancy tests - Clear Blue dating 3+ weeks. However, I had a full and very long, quite heavy period 3 weeks ago, around 2 weeks after unprotected sex. It started light and built up and lasted for nearly 2 weeks. In the last week or , I've started feeling off queasy and off food, and unusually really tired. It reminded me of being pregnant with my first and so thinking I was being ridiculous, I did 2 cheap tests (which showed 2 lines instantly) and then followed up with a Clear Blue which says 3+ weeks. I'm really stunned but also concerned at what that long and fairly heavy bleed was. Surely if that was an early miscarriage, I wouldn't be developing symptoms and have a 3+ week test result? Really in shock and concerned about the health of the baby given the bleed. Anyone have any advice or similar experience. Waiting for call back from early pregnancy unit - GP receptionist told me to just call them. Think it will be tomorrow now so looking for advice in interim. Thanks!

It is possible as my 2 miscarriages were positive for 6 nearly 7 weeks after.

There's also a possibility it's a new pregnancy but your HCG is really high.

Was the bleeding around your period due time? ¶

I posted something similar last year and plenty of people on here have had bleeding in normal pregnancies and hopefully you’re ok!

I had a lot of bleeding for a few weeks before I got a positive and unfortunately I was ectopic, my tests never went above 2-3 weeks though as my hcg stayed low.

You’re definitely right to get checked out and hopefully you get the outcome you want!

Thanks for replies - bleeding was exactly when period was due and the only opportunity for conception was 2 weeks before that. I've had implantation bleeding with first pregnancy but it was tiny spotting for a day. This was making the toilet water red type bleeding - like a period. But here I am feeling sick enough to do a test and it's positive. It's really strange. If the bleeding is sinister , it would have been a chemical pregnancy rather than a miscarriage 8 imagine as it was just 2 weeks after unprotected sex. I'm really unsure. Would a chemical pregnancy leave a strong enough trace of hormones for this Clear Blue test to be showing a 3+ week pregnancy?

@Notengonidea I had similar last year, I thought I was about 7 weeks but was actually nearly 11 weeks with twins. I had what I thought was a period. Both babies were unaffected by the "period" bleed

You could book for a private scan to reassure you as going by date of last unprotected sex you would be about 7 weeks already

I'd go for an early private scan to be certain. Some women still have period type bleeds when pregnant. Hence why some women don't even know they're pregnant till giving birth

If it was the only chance to fall pregnant and the bleeding was only 2 weeks after, a chemical wouldn't leave that strong hcg so I'd say you're still pregnant.
I'd contact the doctor and see if they can get you a scan

I’ve taken a clear blue digital today and it’s come back pregnant 1-2 weeks my period is due today...is the weeks indicator correct as I worked out I was 4 weeks 3 days since my LMP...I had abit of spotting today so worried sick x

@Destinylindseyy the Clearblue is based on date since conception so it will be about 2 weeks behind your calculation on LMP.

By the way, I had my scan and yes, 6 weeks or so with heartbeat! No idea what all that bleeding was.

Glad all went well for you. Just for a bit of reassurance, I had full on period type bleeding when my period was due with my first and second pregnancy. Dd is nearly 5 now and ds 3. I had tested pregnant 5 days before period was due both times and got a positive on a digital clearblue.
