Ultrasound Diagnostic Services or The Birth Company?

Hi,

Has anyone used either of these 2 companies?

They’re both on Harley Street in London. Both offer the SAFE nipt test which I will be having in a few weeks time. I just need to decide which one to use.

These are the only 2 clinics that have been recommended to me by St George’s Hospital in London where the SAFE tests are analysed.

I’ve looked at both their websites. There’s not a vast different in price or anything. The Birth Company website is more user friendly and booking is easy etc.

The other company I’ve contacted because they offer a SAFE test with nuchal scan and a SAFE test with fetal well-being scan. Both are the same cost, but it doesn’t state the difference. Is there one I should be opting for over the other etc. I know what a nuchal scan is but surely having the SAFE test done, the scan before hand will be looking in detail for any markers of chromosome issues anyway as that’s sort of the whole point.

I’ve not yet had an answer, I just had a reply saying to call to book. Not helpful when I’ve asked a question on what the actual difference is.

So just wondering if anyone has used either company and your experiences?

Thanks!

Anyone?

Hi @Moominmiss - I went to the Birth Company for my NIPT Harmony test and had a brilliant experience. It was very clean and professional, and they badgered Harmony to give me the results when the lab was running late. I would recommend them and might go back for later scans.

Thank you @WolfMother326 that’s really helpful. At the moment I’m leaning towards them purely because the other company is yet to respond to my question.

X

@Moominmiss it's so hard to know which clinic to choose, isn't it? I went based on google reviews and responsiveness, and was pleased with the Birth Company. I hope you have a good experience either way!

WolfMother326 · 23/02/2021 15:33

Oh, I should also mention that they gave me videos and amazing photos of the baby via email, which I was able to share with my family. Not the reason I was there, but they did a great job making a nice experience and it felt like I was getting a lot of extra for paying for extra testing out of pocket.

Moominmiss · 23/02/2021 15:59

@WolfMother326 it really is so difficult to know which is the right place to choose. The reviews of the birth company do look pretty amazing, I’m not really seeing a downside to them.

I’m coming from quite a long way from London. Will be parking at Westfield’s shopping centre and getting the tube. Is regent street the nearest tube station to the clinic? That’s how it looks on a map but I can’t be certain.

I just want these next few weeks over and hopefully get a good result from the test so I can relax a little.

@Moominmiss The two closest stations are Regents St and Great Portland Street. I went to Great Portland Street as I live on the Hammersmith and City Line, and it was about a 7 min walk from the tube to the clinic. We also went on a Sunday, and the whole area was dead, so you might be able to find parking depending on the day of the week.

I will be sending you good thoughts so you can get past this and have a more carefree rest of your pregnancy x

Sorry to jump in but does anyone know how long the NIPT results take? I’m not in London but plan on having the test as I’m over 40.
Cheers x

Moominmiss · 23/02/2021 16:10

Thank you honestly so much @WolfMother326. It’s been really really helpful to hear from someone that has actually been to one of the places I’m looking at and had a very similar test to the one I’m looking at too.

We’ll also be looking at going on a Sunday so that neither my partner or I have to take time off work.

I think I’ll get my partner to look closer at the potential to park closer to Harley street. But it’s good to know there are tube stations within a short distance.

Thank you SO much. Wishing you also a fabulous remainder of your pregnancy!

@Peacefulspirit from my understanding the harmony results are processed in London and you should get results within 5 days. The SAFE test results are also processed in London so results are within 7 days.
The panorma test results are sent to California to be processed so the wait time is only slightly longer at 10 days

I highly, highly recommend here:

WolfMother326 · 23/02/2021 16:15

My pleasure @Moominmiss - keep me posted and good luck x

Moominmiss · 23/02/2021 16:23

Thank you @Grimbelina, I have heard of them before but upon looking at their website it seems they only offer the harmony test, and not the SAFE nipt that I’m going to be getting. My second choice test would be the panorma test but it doesn’t look as though they offer that either unfortunately.

Thank you so much though x

I think any would be fine, really. I second @Grimbelina about the Fetal medicine centre too though, they are used by a lot of obstetricians for their private patients and come highly recommended.

Kayjay2018 · 23/02/2021 16:29

@Moominmiss I had the harmony test at the fetal medicine centre in Harley street and they were great

Inkpaperstars · 23/02/2021 16:29

Btw they are actually in the same building as the birth company.

Inkpaperstars · 23/02/2021 16:29

Oh sorry, just seen update!

Moominmiss · 23/02/2021 16:31

Thank you @Inkpaperstars and @Kayjay2018. I’ve heard so many great things about the FMC, and had they offered the test I’m looking for I’d have had no hesitation in going there.

But thank you both so much x

Thanks for replying @Moominmiss xx

Moominmiss · 23/02/2021 16:34

@Peacefulspirit you’re welcome. I reread my message and realised that I should have said that both harmony and SAFE are processed in London and the wait time is equal for both at 5-7 days.
