Colostrum- Hand expressing or breast pump?

Has anyone used their pump to harvest colostrum before baby arrives? I’m 38 weeks this week and have been using syringes to collect but it’s proving a bit messy!
Just wondering if I can use my pump? I’m able to set it to a low suction so doesn’t cause much trauma, my only worry is that some people have said it’s caused them to go into labour (I’m not sure I’m far off anyway as been having irregular contractions for a few weeks, but could be wrong)

But it’s more the mention of painful intense contractions caused by pumping that’s putting me off trying it!

I used a pump to collect colostrum and it didn’t send me into labour I was over due. If your over 37 weeks (which you are) I would try it. Just sterilise it all I found sucking it up from the actual pump lip easier than a bottle so I used mine without a bottle attached
