Hi ladies, Got bad news at a growth scan on Wed that cervix was funneling and only 2.4cm. Got steroids for baby's lungs and a repeat scan on Friday showed the cervix had shortened to .8cm. Did anyone experience anything like this? How long did baby hold on for if so. I'm currently 29+ 4 and just desperate for baby to stay put on as long as possible. Any advice/experience appreciated, xx

Hi I am currently 37+5 and had a short cervix (16mm) found at my 20 week scan, baby is still holding on!

I had a cerclage (cervical stitch) put in place 3 days later and was on progesterone up until 34 weeks, with monitoring every 4 weeks until then too. Each time I went for a check up my cervix was funnelling (opening) up to the stitch. The cerclage was removed over a week ago and there are no signs of baby coming yet!

29+4 is a really really good place to get to! 29+4 may be a bit late to get a cerclage put in but has the hospital given you any other advice? (i.e. bed rest / progesterone pessaries?)

Make sure you stay super hydrated too!

Oh thank you for your response. And sounds so positive. You're at term- Wow,xx
Yes too late for a cerclage but I started cyclogest 2 nights ago so taking them nightly now and drinking LOADS of water. In hospital on bedrest so fingers crossed that will help too.
Nerves are shot. Would love to reach 32 weeks at this stage.

Brilliant, you are doing everything you can for your little one and being monitored which is great!

Hopefully all will be well with you and baby!

We had a baby in the family born at 29 weeks due to a couple of pregnancy complications in 2019 and she is thriving at one years old! I know it is super worrying and becomes a 'counting each day' exercise :(

Sending you lots of positivity and hope baby cooks longer! xx
