The estimated weights can be quite off so don't worry too much.

I'll never believe growth scans again. I had to have them every two weeks with my son and ended up getting induced early cause they thought he was HUUUGE (can't remember measurements), so I was so anxious cause they told me loads of risks about having a large baby and I'm only small myself. He ended up being 7lb 8oz, not big at all! They'd estimated him to be over 10lb I'm sure!

I've heard lots of stories similar to mine as well, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt xxx

Flyingfruit · 22/02/2021 06:37

Mine was estimated 3lb 2oz at 28 weeks. She was born at 38+3 a mere 9lb 2oz. 🤣. But also was estimated at 9.15 at 37+3. So definitely not completely accurate.

Catlady21 · 22/02/2021 09:15

Mine was estimated 2lb 6 at 28 weeks.

The estimates can be quite off.
Look at your growth chart and you'll see what percentile they're on.

At my 28 week scan, baby was over 3lbs which is still only around the 50th percentile.

My first baby was on the 90th percentile for growth at every growth scan and was estimated to be around 11lbs. They induced me a day after my 40 week scan and he was born at 6lbs 5.

Mother2princess · 22/02/2021 22:20

Ohh really I feel better now apparently according to the chart baby is growing along the growth chart line i was just a bit like what I'm having a giant haha

As PPs have said. Its not a very good guess I dont know why they even bother lol!

We were told DS1 was 7lbs 2 at 36weeks, he was born at 38+6 a very tiny 5lbs 10oz!

allthesharks · 22/02/2021 23:18

My daughter was born at 28 weeks and weighed 2lb 11oz. They said she was a good weight.

PFin · 23/02/2021 01:14

I always take these measurements with a pinch of salt. Ive heard so.many stories of them being so inaccurate. My firend was induced cause her baby hadnt grown in weeks and he was going to be tiny. Ended up he was 8.13lb.

Mother2princess · 23/02/2021 07:47

@Braxos thats crazy they really had me worried thinking I was carrying a huge baby they do actually want me to have another growth scan at 32 weeks because I'm a high risk pregnancy but I honestly don't want to know the weight 🙈
