Toxoplasmosis fear

I’m 27 weeks pregnant and last night my other half cooked me a burger. I tucked into it because it smelt absolutely amazing. After 3 bites I realised it was RARE. And he likes his meat rare. I didn’t have any more, but I’m absolutely paranoid that I’ve got toxoplasmosis and the baby will get it too. I rang the midwife last night and she didn’t seem concerned at all. (She even joked asking if I’ve been looking online).

Any one who could reassure me, that would be amazing. A lot of online stuff is quite scary and advises you not to eat undercooked meat, which isn’t helpful once you’ve digested the stuff. (Am I right?!)

You and your baby are perfectly fine.

You're not getting toxoplasmosis from 3 bites of burger.

Toxoplasmosis is normally caught from cat feces.

Pink beef will be fine. Even rare beef is still cooked to temperature so highly unlikely to cause tummy upset.

Thanks guys. Pregnancy doesn’t half make you paranoid Confused
