Pepperoni

Hey,

I just had a pepperoni pizza - from M&S, cooked at home - and then googled and realised we're not supposed to and now panicked. Pizza was cooked (cheese bubbling and brown) but am panicking if the pepperoni was cooked 'enough' to kill listeria - can anyone set my mind at ease? What can I do?

Pepperoni is fine, souls only eat it cold if it says "ready to eat" and cooked in on pizza is safe too.

You’re definitely fine. Most deli meat isn’t actually contaminated with listeria in the first place and even if it was- slight cooking would be fine to kill it. I’m a microbiologist and pregnant myself.

Pepperoni is fine. And also if you're in the UK, it isn't really a worry.
It's mainly in the US.

UK advice says not to eat cured meats unless cooked or you can freeze it for 4 days before eating

Thanks everyone and particularly @Zippy1510 - appreciate the scientist's input! Was trying to Google what % of meat has listeria in the first place and went down a wormhole and freaked myself out. And in the UK too so hopefully all good. Phew!

Is it not toxoplasmosis from cured meats?
Whatever it is, it is fine if the pepperoni was cooked

If it’s been cooked in the oven it should be fine.

The amount of pepperoni pizza I ate when I was pregnant with DD1 and she’s just fine.
