New sofa..is this a thing?

I’ve read about VOCs and toxins from off gassing new sofas. We’ve just had one delivered and I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. The smell is present but I can’t really avoid it as it’s the only sofa we have? (Sofa and two chairs)

Anyone else been pregnant with new furniture? Realise how mad that actually sounds really!

I’m sure I can’t be the only pregnant person to have a nee sofa but just looking for reassurance

I can't say I've ever heard of this but I had two new sofas delivered when I was about 9 weeks pregnant and I now have a 5 month old fighting a nap as we speak.

I don’t think it would be able to do any harm - all fabrics and glues have to adhere to strict standards on the chemicals used these days and are tested to make sure they comply. Even though it smells chemically or whatever it shouldn’t do any harm I don’t think xx

I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine. If you’re worried, open the window for a little while every day to ventilate the room.

Thank you Smile it’s definitely a weird one but I can’t deny the smell
