Low PAPP-A - Would love to hear other experiences!

So I had my 12-week blood tests back and they all came back fine - everything was low risk. But the results did highlight that my PAPP-A hormone was low (.38 when they want a minimum of .41; apparently 1.0 is considered the average). I made the mistake of googling PAPP-A before seeing my midwife next week for my 16-week appointment and am a little worried/stressed/anxious.

I'd love to hear from others out there who have experience having low PAPP-A during their pregnancies and what the outcomes were.

The NHS website lists potential complications like low birth weights (due to placental issues), increased likelihood of pre-eclampsia, increased chance of pre-term birth, increased chance of miscarriage in the second half of pregnancy, increased chance of needing to be induced...just a bit much to have come back at you from Google (I know I shouldn't have!!)

Congratulations @Drowninginwashing!
@lovelsa hope your conversation with midwife went well.
My papp-a level was 0.19. I had extra growth scans and took aspirin and my daughter was born by section (breech baby) at 39 weeks last summer weight 8lb 11! I know a few friends who have also had low Papp-a but no problems!

Hi, I had low PAPP a in my first pregnancy.. I want to know if the second will also have same issue? Moms who had low Papp a in first pregnancy

Ghayu · 07/05/2021 00:15

Hi mom, this is my first post.. even I had low Papp a but I delivered a healthy baby at 39 weeks.. now I'm planning for second and I want to know if I will have the same complications? Any one else faced low PAPP a in more than one pregnancy? Pleas help.. so that I can mentally prepare myself before planning .. TIA

Hi @Ghayu I had it in my first pregnancy and my level was around 0.36 MOM. I asked the midwife if I was likely to have it again this time and she said it's random each pregnancy. This time my level was 0.7 MOM so although a bit below the average, not a level considered 'low' or needed extra monitoring.
