Hi all,

I remember a thread on this recently but I can’t seem to find it!

Does anyone have any advice for vegan vitamins/supplements?

I’m only 4 weeks so tentatively excited! But just want to make sure I’m taking the right things to help. I’m currently taking folic acid, vitamin d and iron. I do have vegan omega 3, does anyone know if this is recommended?

Thank you so much!

Hi OP, I’m 20 weeks pregnant and have been vegan for 3 years. For the first 14 weeks of my pregnancy I just took folic acid and vitamin D, but I did call my GP at around 7 weeks to discuss this with her. She was amazing, and kindly arranged for blood tests to check my levels, particularly of b12 which often vegans are low in. Luckily all my levels were nice and high, so I could continue just on folic acid and vit D, but I do remember being anxious about iron and b12 at the time. I would recommend speaking to your doctor to see if you can get the same support. Other than that, make sure you’re eating lots of variety - I’m a huge believer that you can get everything you need from a vegan diet if you’re eating well. At 14 weeks I switched to a pregnancy multivitamin by Terra Nova from my local health shop - it’s suitable for vegans and covers just about everything including b12, iron, calcium, vit d, iodine etc. I feel great on them Smile good luck for your pregnancy! X

I'm veggie and take every other day
B12 (500mg Holland and Barrett)
Iron and Vit c combined tablet from boots
Folic and vit D combined tablet from boots
And a omega 3 algae tablet that I got from Amazon

They seem to work for me if I feel tired I may take an extra iron and b12 tablet

Popping on as wanted to say the Pregnacare chewable tablets are vegan- that won't help with vegan-specific nutrient requirements (of which I know nothing, sorry), but I noticed it on the bottle when I bought them for myself as I hate the tablets and liquid.

Congrats. I'm on vegan pregnancy number two, now 37 weeks. I like these multivitamins (2 month supply)
www.amazon.co.uk/Veganicity-Pregnancy-Essentials-Multivitamin-Supplement/dp/B00CX31AMY/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=pregnancy+multivitamins+vegan&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1613729369&sr=8-4

That brand also do an omega three DHA and EPA I was taking for a while.

Good luck 😃
