Hospital bag snacks during covid

Best hospital bag snacks for DH and I during these Covid times? First labour I sent DH to Costa during and McDonald’s after birth but this time he can’t leave the ward and return again soooo what do I pack? I’ll be ok with actual ‘snacks’ but something more substantial? I’m not overly fond of hospital options Grin

Id recommend some “meaty” chocolate bars, think lion bar, snickers etc. What about those john West snack/salad pots you can get? Or you could also have sandwiches prepped if you have time before leaving for the hospital?
One thing I swore by was a 4 pack of lucozade sport, kept 3 in the freezer and 1 in the fridge until we left for the hospital. The freezer ones turned into the most amazing ice cold slush during labour which was so refreshing thing during/after

If you're more of a savoury one like me, go for cup a soup/noodle tubs. I'll also be packing rich tea biscuits, I'm really not a fan of those sugary bars!

I’ll be following this. I’ve just checked and DH is allowed to stay until we’re discharged but won’t be allowed out of the room at all so we’re going to need to pack about 48hrs worth of food for him and snacks for me. The hospital will provide boiling water at meal time but we aren’t really pot noodle or cup a soup fans. We’re both vegetarian so things like the tuna pots are out.

How about a flask of soup or a casserole and take some bread. I made up some fresh and frozen sandwiches for my husband to eat.

Can someone bring food to you? I happened to be at the hospital on the same day a friend was delivering so dropped off coffee, cake and McDs!

mumandcub · 19/02/2021 07:45

Oh wow that was a stroke of luck @VenetoResident !! But I don’t think anyone will be near enough to do that for us sadly.
I have contemplated pot noodle but only in a beggars can’t be choosers kind of way 🤣
I could prep sandwiches but my first labour was under an hour start to finish so perhaps won’t have time for that as will need to sort childcare then actually get to the hospital.
It definitely needs to be something thrown in a bag and ready. I remember eating a costa during labour and it was THE best thing I’ve ever eaten at the time, it will be sadly missed this time. Or do you think you can get a deliveroo 🤔 haha!!

We won’t be able to have anyone bring us anything because we live an hour away but I am having an elective so at least I can be prepared. Someone suggested porridge pots
