Hi there! Good luck for your scan, it's completely normal to be nervous especially when it's your first. Are you sure your partner cant attend (have you checked the current rules with your hospital?) as my hospital is allowing partners to 12 week and 20 week scans :) hope everything goes well for you! Xx

Oh and it's normal to not have a bump at 12 weeks, baby is still only tiny. And with most pregnancies sickness and usual symptoms seem to hit their peak between 6-9 weeks and then subside, so that's normal too x

Thankyou for replying.
Yeah i have doubled checked and theyve confirmed all appointments til birth are to be attended alone.Sad

Thankyou thats made me feel better as i was worrying myself about it all. X

Hello!

Bless you, I know exactly how you feel as my scan is tomorrow afternoon. Feel sick with worry! On the subject of morning sickness, I really wouldn’t worry that it’s died down as most of the reports I’ve had said people start feeling better around 10 or 11 weeks plus a lot of people don’t get any morning sickness whatsoever throughout their pregnancy. I’ve only had spells of nausea and only actually had my head down the toilet twice! I haven’t felt any nausea for well over a week now.
Is there nobody who can come with you to the scan? Hospitals are allowing one extra person to attend scans at the moment so long as they’re in your household or bubble I think?

Good luck for Monday - fingers crossed we will both be fine and able to breathe a huge sigh of relief... until the next scan! Lol x

Hi, I didnt have a bump at all with my first at 12weeks and only a tiny one with this pregnancy at that point. Totally normal, try not to worry.

I've found from going to scans they try to get to the heartbeat and key things very quickly so they can put you at ease before going through all the measurements that they need.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 18/02/2021 19:44

Question then on the scan thing there’s a big push to allow it at present, because it’s ridiculous that partners are still barred from this. Mine said no and then ‘oh the 12 week is fine, but not the 20!’ Which makes no bloody sense but at least that’s the 12 week one where I won’t be alone. So get them to explain their current stance on this. It’ll keep being like this if we don’t question it.

Good luck, I’m sure all is well!

Rare to have a "bump" when baby is so small, most that do are more bloat than baby. It's normal for symptoms to ease around now as the placenta takes over and your hormones calm down a bit.
Don't worry about going alone. I had to go alone as dh had to look after the kids, this one follows 2 mc's so I was worried. The sonographer showed me baby and it's little heart beating before she did the measurements which was a big relief. Ours was very wriggly which was lovely to see but it moved every time she tried to take a picture so they aren't very good.

Good luck with your scan

I had my 12 week scan last week, my letter said that no one else was allowed but I phoned them to check and it turns out partners are allowed now, they just haven't changed the letter. So could be worth speaking to them?

Kat1990x · 18/02/2021 19:54

Thankyou all for replying. Really put my mind at ease as i dont have family and father of child dont want to know so just battling this by myself right now with little to any knowledge and just worry.

Appreciate all replies.

Yeah i did ring hospital and they have most definatly said all is to be done alone which is why i think im panicking more. Would of been nice to have moral support.

As for the bump i feel better now reading your guys advice as im just thinking ive made the whole pregnancy up by looking at my stomachGrin but now understand it all abit better.

I think what doesnt help is theres little to any communication now from professionals as all ive had is one booking phone call and bloods done. I dont get to see midwife until week 24 and know nothing about pregnancy.

I also have my 12 week scan on Monday!

I didn't have a bump at this stage with my first. This is my second and I have a slight hint of a bump, but only because my muscles are more relaxed from the first time round!

It's quite normal for sickness to have eased off by this point (mind you it's also normal to still experience it, all pregnancies are different).

I hope it goes well for you Flowers

Poppins2016 · 18/02/2021 19:58

Oh I also forgot to say... don't be surprised if your stomach starts to look flatter (because early pregnancy bloating will ease) before a little bump starts to show. That's completely normal!
