Hi, this is my first pregnancy and I'm currently 5 half weeks pregnant. Due to covid I've yet been assigned a midwife, and I'm worried, (googling symptoms doesn't help thr situation)
I am currently experiencing lower shooting pains and cramps in my stomach and a tug below my belly button.
Is this normal and me just being silly or should I be concerned and get in touch with my local gp?

Hi @Nervousmamma92 I had this very early in pregnancy, around the six week mark and called my GP for advice. She ended up referring me for an early scan which was all fine and the midwife told me not to panic about cramps / tugging, especially if not accompanied by any bleeding. I’m now 14 weeks pregnant and so far all looking good.

That said, you know your body best so if something doesn’t feel right, a call to the GP may be your best bet.

Awh thats very reassuring thankyou!
It is just all so new to me and I'm a proper nervous mess.

I will give my gp a call and just mention it but yeah I have no bleeding thankfully.

Congratulations on your baby and good luck 😊 xx

You won't be seen this early by a midwife just in general as they don't see you until around 9/10 weeks regardless of Covid.

That all sounds normal though but if you're worried, I'd give 111 a call and chat to them. It's usually fine unless accompanied by bleeding
