6 weeks and stabbing pain on right side

I am just over 6 weeks pregnant. When I got up this morning I had a horrible stabbing pain on my right side. This only lasted for about 10 minutes but I'm worried that something might be wrong.
I've been having mild cramps since I found out I was pregnant but nothing as severe as this.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Could be round ligament pain if you got it just after moving.

If it happens again or is more persistent, I'd run it past a gp.

Thank you, I have never heard of that & will have a look now.

If you'd draw a live horizontally from your belly button towards your hip is it that sort of area rather than low Dow cramping? If it's one sided and hip level I'd keep an eye on it in case it's ectopic

Hi @rosepurple sounds silly but could be trapped wind (maybe TMI but I had this early on and was rather painful)! As others have said though keep an eye on it especially if it gets worse, but if it’s intermittent and comes and goes it could be trapped wind, things expanding down there or round ligament pain. Hope that helps.

@rosepurple sounds like round ligament pain. Everything you read says you won’t experience it until the second trimester, but I had my first experience of it at 7 weeks and am now 16 weeks xx

I had exactly the pain that you describe near my upper abdomen, off to my right hand side this morning! As others have said, I’m almost certain that this is round ligament pain. I’m 6+1 so about the same as you too Smile

Thank you so much everyone, I feel a lot more reassured now Smile. I was a bit worried about it being ectopic but it does seem to be more like round ligament pain which is a relief.
