Maternity Clothes

Where is the best place for maternity clothes? Did you find you had to buy lots of maternity or could just get a bigger size?

You can get some stuff in larger sizes and team them up with bump bands.
I like maternity wear from new look and George @ asda. Cheap enough for short term wear. You can often pick up good condition 2nd hand from places like ebay.

Just buy your usual size. Love leggings are the best maternity leggings. Dorothy Perkins for stretchy tops.

To start with a bigger size (or baggy style in current size) was fine. I'm 33 weeks and still wearing loads of oversized non-maternity jumpers and dresses that I had before PG - they've just stretched a bit. Even some of my stretchy T-shirts are fine - the GAP tops I got in last year's sale are going strong! Definitely look at some maternity jeans/leggings for comfort though - sizing up didn't really work for me for bottoms. I was in love leggings maternity from about 10 weeks (they do come up a bit short though)! After about 22-24 weeks I found my shape had properly changed and maternity stuff fits better and looks better but haven't bought too much as know I won't wear for long and most of the time the non-maternity stuff is fine - it just makes me look fat instead of PG (maternity clothes seem to shape around the bump - non-maternity just hang off it if that makes sense)! You can get some good bundles on ebay if you want to keep cost down.

Boohoo has some good stuff on sale (although some of it would only look ok on a pregnancy model!) But there's loads on their website to chose from. I'd say maternity clothes don't fit well until you've got a proper bump though so maybe baggy clothes for the inbetween bit.

I buy most of mine on eBay - there are some nice brands (Seraphine, Isabella Oliver etc) at good prices and you really don't wear them for long. Plus it's better for the environment!

Boohoo quality is truly appalling.

I’ve found some really good things from Dorothy Perkins, especially the jeans! Think they have 30% off everything at the moment too

I got a few dresses and t shirts from boohoo and whilst they're affordable they're definitely 'done' after one pregnancy. Same with the maternity work trousers I ordered from ASOS.

I got some elbow length scoop neck t shirts from GAP's website which were really versatile. They always have discount codes so the ticket price isn't what you pay. Washed well and thick, soft material.

Best Buy was probably my maternity zip up hoody from Seraphine. This was the dearest thing I bought but so worth it- again, used a discount code from Emma's Diary or similar. Saved me buying a maternity coat and used it with the insert when carrying DD in the sling once she arrived. Would re-purchase.

I got a few bits from Mothercare as well which were fine, but obviously they're gone now. The GAP and Seraphine stuff wore well which is important when you have a limited wardrobe and are washing and rewearing stuff twice a week or more for six months. Because you won't suddenly fit into your normal clothes after!

First time round I didn't bother with maternity clothing, just kept sizing up. This time round I'm living in h and m maternity joggers and I'm living the dream! My biggest pair hubby is going to have once I'm done for when we have a Wayne and waynetter evening Infront of the telly with a take awake!
They've washed so well also.

My best buy was jeans from red herring - the only non skinny ones I could find! I lived in them from about 18 weeks. Then I got some maternity leggings from Asda and a couple of maternity dresses and tops. My wardrobe was boring but functional for a while!
