Hi ladies.

I had bloods taken at 6 + 4/5and results came back as 13052.7 iu/l. I don’t know why but I keep thinking this is low 😩. I am now 7 weeks and have minimal symptoms. I had 2 previous losses so I’m feeling very much pessimistic. My MW says my results are normal but looking at the internet that seems on the lower end of a scale. Anyone had bloods at similar time and can shed some light?

Your midwife says they're fine and I believe your results aren't far off central in the range. It's so different for everyone hence the wide range. The more important thing is that these increase for you. Not based on a scale exactly. Some women produce more, some less. And every pregnancy is different. My first baby was only ever just above the lowest range and I now have a 7 year old

It is on the low side but im surprised they even did a hcg test after 6 weeks as they aren't really accurate from that point? Also one test can't really tell you anything - you'd need 2-3 tests 48 hours apart?

eloiseislost · 15/02/2021 14:19

The "normal" hcg levels for 6 weeks are 1080-56500 and for 7 weeks 7650-229000, according to the American Pregnancy Association.
Your results are not low in any way.
I know that being pregnant after losses can be a stressful experience but your numbers don't indicate that there is anything wrong with this pregnancy.

Katie1109 · 15/02/2021 14:21

@ivfbeenbusy thank you. I asked MW to check my levels because of my previous losses, I just wanted some kind of reassurance really. But now looking the results I think I feel even worse and she said with these results there is no point doing more tests, as long as they’re normal she’s satisfied all is progressing well.

@eloiseislost thank you hun x I guess when you look at it this way they don’t seem that low 😩 thank you for understanding, I’m just very pessimistic person to start with, add two previous losses to that and I’m just panicking about anything.

@SnooperTrooper12345 thank you for your reply! I don’t think she’s planning on repeating the test, she’s satisfied for the time being. I have a private scan booked for this weekend, I shall have some answers then!

I'm the same @Katie1109, I've had one loss and I'm now pregnant again and the anxiety is through the roof. Your midwife knows best though, if she had any concerns, she would do another blood draw or order more tests.
I got a private scan and saw the little heartbeat at 6 weeks, which helped. It doesn't take away all the anxiety, but certainly helps. Maybe that would be an option for you?

Katie1109 · 15/02/2021 14:55

@eloiseislost I’ve got a private scan this coming weekend, I should be around 8 weeks then!

I’m so happy I’ve found this thread. I had a beta HCG blood test on Friday and I was 4 weeks 5 days and they gave me my results this morning via text message and I was 157. I have had 3 miscarriages last year in the space of 7 months. I’m now 5 weeks pregnant today and that result of 157 is freaking me out. My tests are really dark, but I know you aren’t meant to judge it off that.

You're still perfectly within the range for 5 weeks pregnant. All looks fine to me. As I previously posted, it isn't about the number exactly. That number is more personal to you in the sense that its about that number increasing. The level of HCG when in the normal range doesn't always have an indication of how well the pregnancy is going

That number is also only really relevant if you have another blood test to see if it's increasing
MollySxx · 15/02/2021 17:01

@SnooperTrooper12345 my GP won’t be retesting either to compare the two. So that’s why I was at a bit of a loss and confused. I have no pass numbers to compare it to either because I’ve never had a beta test in any of my past pregnancies. Thank you for responding
