I keep getting damp thighs & bottom & between legs. Been noticing it ofr last couple of weeks. Am not pareticulary huge in those areas and it feels really horrible. Am sure i am just a sweaty beast (how can i lessen this??) but the niggle of paranioa whispers .. amniotic fluid.

PLease please tell me you have had this and i am a sweaty beast and all part of the joys of pregnancy.

How far along are you? A white milky discharge is very common in pregnancy (I think it i scalled leukorrhoea). Is that the sort of thing or is it just sweat? If it is just sweat I wouldn't worry.

nh101andhertwinbeans · 02/11/2007 14:02

Hey Awen - just noticed your name! I think we know each other from Pregnancy after Miscarriage thread (though I'm a newbie really - only 10 weeks PG so you might not remember me!) If memory serves you are quite far along so I think you should just put it down to the joys of PG!

Lulumama · 02/11/2007 14:03

put a pad on and wait for a bit, amniotic fluid smells different to sweat or wee !

wear cotton knickers and remember you are going to be warmer than before you were pregnant, so try to wear natural fibres and don;t get over heated

MamaMaiasaura · 02/11/2007 14:07

I think it is likely to be sweat just feels so horrid and i get proper soaked, DP was really shocked by it.

Waves to NH101 - think i know you from ttc board, or PCOS or something like that. Am fortunate not have have needed top be on the ttc after mc. 10 weeks already bet the time will fly.

Waves @ Lulu - will try a pad but do think i am a sweaty pig.

MamaMaiasaura · 02/11/2007 14:38

Everso helpful I just had a lovely bath and feel all fresh again.

Yessssssss. As in me too - I'm very sweaty between the thighs, all the way down to my knees and along my bikini line, especially at night - I wake up drenched in perspiration. I've been resorting to lashings of talcum powder and changing my pants around 5-6 times a day.

Seems to be one of umpteen odd/embarassing pregnancy symptoms. Honestly, one's body feels like its totally unfamiliar, the number of strange things that have been going on...

daisynova · 04/11/2007 11:41

Yup - it sounds like you are sweating for Britain! I constantly wake up all sweaty down there and during the day I often have to change my top as I am getting really sweaty under my arms too now - Lovely!

And no matter how many times I wash or use deodorant - I still end up soaked. It's a mean side effect!

MamaMaiasaura · 04/11/2007 21:51

oh the joys!!

Ahh the sweaty, leaky fanjo! I'm bloody amazed Dh even wants to approach me,I reckon if I sat on something with no knicks on, I'd leave a trail like brian the snail

Getting all paranoid again.. This sweaty betty thing is not getting any better! So bad that my pjs down one leg was soaked through and undies. Been wearing cotton etc. Am going to have to have yet a nother bath and lashings of talc (not been using it but will give it a go!). The whole leaking fluid niggle is there but i have a scan tomorrow so can check levels then (was below 50th centile 4 weeks ago so will see if dropped any further). Baby seems happy though, is a real squirmy one

Really uncomfortable!

try alun crystals in health shops.
You put a few drops of water on it and rub on your skin. helps minimise perspiration. All natural.

You can also try dead sea/epsom salts in your bath.

MamaMaiasaura · 19/11/2007 09:44

Had never heard of that slim. Will def give it a go.

it's a third world thing
My gran used it and miracle of the modern world..... you can now find spray versions...
btw it's aluM crystal.

Google alum crystal anti perspirant and you'll see what it is.

I get very sweaty at night as well, and always go through the "have my waters burst, or am I just a sweaty mare" conundrum when I go to the loo ;)

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 10:50

Awen - just thought I would pop on and say I sweaat an awful lot too.... mainly between my legs... sometimes during the day aswell if I sit for too long... and second the leaving a trail if i sat without any knickers on... carefree pantyliners have made a fortune out of me as have andrex.

Definitely side effects of pregnancy me thinks Awen.

MamaMaiasaura · 19/11/2007 14:41

oh the lovely joys of it all. lol

Warning - if you get a rash or itcginess in your sweaty bits, and general cleanliness/talc/sudocrem etc don't help, then it could be thrush. I'm a bit of a sweaty betty at the best of times, even more so when I'm pregnant, so being heavily pg in last year's heatwave...yuck! My trousers were getting soaked through with it, and I ended up with rampant thrush on my thighs.

What's that business about "Horses sweat, men perspire, but ladies merely glow."?

MrsBadger · 19/11/2007 14:55

it is worth getting checked for thrush anyway - thrush in pg can be very unlike non-pg thrush (no itching, no burning, no smell, no cottage-cheese-looking discharge).

I had the symptoms you describe (three pantyliners a day ) and Canesten (on prescription so free) cleared it right up.

Don't suffer needlessly!

MamaMaiasaura · 19/11/2007 14:56

I must be a right mare then

Talking of thrush the day i went into laabour with DS and went to the hospital to get checked out the MW said dI had thrush and sent me to the chemist with contractions to buy ssome caneston... very funny.

ayrshirelolo · 19/11/2007 21:55

Awen just noticed this one! Sorry for not telling you my wee story earlier, last summer (hot one.. 2006!) i had this when preg with dd... and it was totally yucky! My thighs ended up red and sore from the wetness and had a horrible itchy rash round the whole area. Used super absorb pant liners for a bit, and turned out i had preg thrush too, so got sorted very quickly once i worked out what was wrong but made me very miserable for a while! Hope you sort it out (this time none of the above..no idea why but grateful!) lolo x
