Im 19 weeks and have been taking 150mg of aspirin daily since about 12 weeks, it wasnt really explained to me why other than because my bmi is 37.5, anyway my mother in law seems concerned that 150mg is too much, i know she is probably just being overly dramatic but has anybody else been prescribed this dosage and can explain what its actually ment to do? My MW is on maternity leave so i cant ask her.

I’ve just written about this in another post. My BMI is also very high 30.5. It’s basically almost 31 which is the criteria for obese. I haven’t been prescribed aspirin. I’m wondering if I should be as my blood pressure has been elevated 132/80 on average.

NamechangeTTC · 16/02/2021 05:55

The criteria is bmi over 35. 30.5 isn’t “very high”

I’m on it. It’s prescribed here and I take 150mg. From 12 week scan until I deliver. FTM with high BMI and family history of recurrent stillbirth.

@NamechangeTTC

Sorry I meant very high in the sense it was the last criteria of the bmi scale.

Thanks for clarifying.

When I saw a fertility consultant earlier this year I was told by her that a bmi of 30 or more is classified as obese and a cause for concern in pregnancy 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for everybodys reply im now fully clued up as to why im on the aspirin. I dont fully understand bmi never have lol, as somebody has already said its classed as being obese and while yes i am overweight for my height i dont class myself as being obese i have no health concerns and having a low risk pregnancy
