Hello all,
Im a first time mum and I’m only 11 weeks pregnant so I’m nearly through the 1st trimester yay!
I was just wondering this may sound really stupid but I’ve googled and googled and I can’t find a single thing 😩
It’s V day today so naturally my DP bought me my fave chocolates and I’m cravingggg chocolate at the moment so I didn’t hesitate and had half the box, really bad I know but it’s a treat!

They’re the guylian seashell chocolates so the praline ones, I was wondering are they okay to eat? I didn’t think anything of it until now....
And I’m freaking out because the ingredients don’t explain much and I’m worried if there was raw egg maybe, was the milk pasteurised?
Sorry please don’t judge me but I’ve googled so I’ve come to the next best place obviously!
Just need some advice if they’re okay or not 😔
Thank you!!

They'll be fine.

pumpkinpie01 · 14/02/2021 23:50

Absolutely fine

Thank you guys! Just had a worrying moment about it, I always stick to the nhs foods to avoid and thought they were okay but then my mind went into over thinking and started to have a little panic just incase the milk isn’t pasteurised and what if they’ve used raw eggs? I’ve already eaten half a box anyways now!
But thank you ☺️

Guylian are my favourite chocolates. I'm 26 weeks pregnant and have eaten at least 5 boxes throughout with a baby right now using my bladder as a tambourine 😂

PeggyHill · 15/02/2021 06:46

Ah, bugger. Now I want guylian.

There won't be anything raw or unpasturised in boxed chocolates

Alwayssilver · 15/02/2021 08:41

Thanks both!
They’re my favourite too I could easily have gone through the box and more! 😂
Thank you for putting my mind at ease! I would say I’m off to eat the other half but silly me give them to my DP 😩

No one is using unpasteurised milk in chocolates on a shelf. look at how long they last for - they’ve probably never seen actual milk, let alone unpasteurised milk!

brushlaptop · 15/02/2021 08:47

Omg I love those, yes totally fine in pregnancy!

Alwayssilver · 15/02/2021 09:32

@PotteringAlong that is very true I didn’t think of that to be honest! All rational thinking goes out the window when you worry 🙈
@brushlaptop they are the best aren’t they!! Thank you ☺️

Go buy another box Grin

@Alwayssilver Hmm I'm 16 weeks and I ate a whole box of these about 2 weeks ago to celebrate reintroducing dairy into my diet after 5 months with out. Didn't think anything of it. Really not sure what could be in them that you can't have when pregnant?! In the UK if a product contains unpasteurised milk it has to be clearly labelled x

BlueberryPancake21 · 15/02/2021 11:48

100% OK. You won't get anything unpasteurised in a mainstream boxed chocolate. Chocolates don't use eggs (which would still be OK if lion marked e.g. in a mousse). Looking at the ingredients they list "milk powder" and "milk solids" (which is another name for powder). They aren't using milk anyway!

Sceptre86 · 15/02/2021 12:01

You'll be fine and they are yummy chocolates.

Alwayssilver · 15/02/2021 16:41

@4amWitchingHour haha don’t tempt me I’ll be going to the shop now 😂
@MintGreenLife that’s handy to know definitely! And you definitely made the right choice of what to have to introduce dairy back into your diet! I would have done exactly the same 🤤 x
@BlueberryPancake21 ahh brilliant that’s really good to know as well! I’m not well versed at all on ingredients and I looked everywhere on the internet and couldn’t find any answers so thank you for the reply definitely keeping that in mind! ☺️
@Sceptre86 thank you! They are the best aren’t they!
