Hi everyone! So I've had a miscarriage at 5 weeks just a couple months and thankfully got pregnant again. However...
I had bleeding last Friday that turned to spotting after a day so I went to the early pregnancy unit on Wednesday and they said that couldn't see anything on scan But may be too early.

So they did bloods. I got a call that evening saying they are too low for it to be a pregnancy.

I just did a test as I wanted to check the lines were going so I could try again and I saw the strongest lines I've ever seen. They were faint before.

So confused and stressed. Is this normal?
Heartbreaking to see as expected to see nothing.

I would have been about 5 weeks when I went into the pregnancy unit.

I've attached pictures of my test today.

Thank you xx

So confused please help :(

I have no answers for you and I can only imagine how your feeling at the min, I'm so sorry you are going through this it must be tough.

Chelyanne · 14/02/2021 20:45

Unfortunately it is so early, all you can do is wait. It can take weeks for pregnancy tests to come back negative after a mc but the earlier the loss the sooner it tends to be. I would give it another week and test again. If they are still positive give EPU a call and see if they will scan.

Graced05111991 · 14/02/2021 20:46

@mucky1 thank you I'm so confused feel like just as I got to realise this has happened again I'm now seeing this. Hope you're well. X

Cafeaulait27 · 14/02/2021 20:54

They are strong lines. Was it your first morning urine both times you tested? Could it be that your dates are out?

I’m so sorry there is so much uncertainty right now, I hope it works out for you. All you can really do is wait. Keep us updated xxx

PurplePansy05 · 14/02/2021 20:58

You had black spotting? I'd be going back to EPU on that basis for sure. I personally think they need to rescan you, it could be an ectopic pregnancy or internal bleeding, or an infection. You may have had an incomplete miscarriage.

Regarding the tests, even up to 2-3 weeks after a complete miscarriage they can be positive.

I'm sorry OP, I had 3 MCs and it's an awful experience.

anniebu · 15/02/2021 12:40

When you did bloods, what was the exact result (amount of hcg) ? Try finding that out it may help x

Graced05111991 · 15/02/2021 12:56

Hi everyone.

So i got a call today saying that they gave me the wrong bloods. The low bloods they gave me were from my last miscarriage about 2 months ago. They said actually your bloods were 250. So I have gone in again today and hopefully I'll hear soon.

I am spotting still so perhaps I am now miscarrying. Who knows. Did a clear blue digital with weeks today and has gone up from 1-2 to 2-3 from last week. X

NinaMimi · 15/02/2021 14:32

That’s so weird they gave you wrong blood results but glad they noticed error.

It’s horrible to wait not knowing. All the best!

Lizbb · 15/02/2021 20:46

@Graced05111991 hey hun sorry for what your going through. I had a mc at all weeks a few days ago. I did a pregnancy test and ovulation test and even after 2 and half weeks it still showed positive. It may just be the hormones are still high and the system needs to get back to normal.
Have you dtd since? As they do say you are most fertile after mc.

Lizbb · 15/02/2021 20:49

@Graced05111991 hey just see this. What! So reckless. Fingers cross you are positive. After the mc how long did it take for your period to come back. Did you just ttc straight away?

Chica1990 · 15/02/2021 20:51

That is crazy they told you old results, I wonder how they realised the mistake?

Sorry to ask but how far along should you be op?

PurplePansy05 · 16/02/2021 07:17

I really wouldn't wait and I'd be back at the EPU, rising HCG may also be linked to an ectopic and it can also rise for a period of time in a non viable pregnancy. You need to make sure you're safe first and foremost, not clutch to Clear Blue results, OP. The spotting that you described sounds concerning and needs to be checked over.

PurplePansy05 · 16/02/2021 07:25

Also when I referred to an incomplete MC earlier, I meant that it could be this pregnancy (but it's also possible it could be the previous one depending on OP's history and dates).

You must be nearly 6 weeks now from what you're saying, EPU should scan you with more clarity now.

I'd also complain about the results, it's a terrible mistake and no matter the outcome now, they should not have put you through this xx

Graced05111991 · 16/02/2021 08:50

Thank you everyone. So I bled last Friday heavy then spotting then stopped and then week later got some spotting which is still going now so I rang and went in for more bloods last Wednesday. They gave me the wrong results from my first early loss at 5 weeks beginning of Jan. They said they just looked at the screen and saw those then when I rang a week later (yesterday) saying I still had positives that's why they I went in yesterday for more.

My results have risen probably doubling every 3 days rather than 2 as they are now 750. I'm going in again tomorrow for a scan as they should be able to see something now. And more bloods.

Not expecting much because of my bleeding. I sadly expect I am now miscarrying again.

Also no I didn't have a period in between last miscarriage I just fell pregnant again so I can't really date how far I am! Probably 5-6 weeks very early.

Xx

OP, did you have a negative pregnancy test after your miscarriage in January?

Graced05111991 · 16/02/2021 12:05

@PurplePansy05 yes I did and my bloods taken after the bleeding stopped and were 5 so was confirmed miscarriage.

OP posts:
Graced05111991 · 16/02/2021 12:06

@PurplePansy05 also I think i would be about 10 weeks now from my last pregnancy.

OP posts:
PurplePansy05 · 16/02/2021 13:30

Ok so yes this must be a new pregnancy. Things may still be ok OP, but I am worried about the colour of your spotting and very glad you are getting rescanned. Make sure you tell them everything and get them to check carefully whether you do not have any internal bleeding, infection or any retained products of the previous pregnancy. And check for ectopic too. It's very hard to say what's going on, but the reality is it may be linked to something else, not necessarily your current pregnancy. You will need to wait to be checked over first, I'm so sorry you're going through such a stressful time and hope it works out for you. I had 3 MCs in a row and I get how horrendous it is, especially if you don't know what's going on. Look after yourself and don't let anyone fob you off before you're checked over properly. xx

Graced05111991 · 18/02/2021 05:11

Thank you for all your help everyone. It was sadly an eptopic pregnancy and I'm in hospital now after surgery. Second miscarriage now I feel distraught. They did discover I am D negative blood and My partner is positive so this could possibly hopefully solve half of the explanation as to why this has happened. I have had the Anti D injection now.

OP posts:
Chica1990 · 18/02/2021 07:28

So sorry to hear this @Graced05111991, I had surgery for one in October and know it’s absolutely gutting. Please take care of yourself and today will be hard with your hormones adjusting and the reality of things setting in.

There is a thread on here of a load of us TTC after ectopic so come over snd say hi when you’re feeling up to it, quite a few of us have conceived since so it’s not the impossible task that I once thought.

Sorry again and you are strong, you will get through this xx

Graced05111991 · 18/02/2021 07:34

@Chica1990 Thank you that sounds great. Will be lovely to hear other people's stories xx

OP posts:
Lizbb · 18/02/2021 07:51

@Graced05111991 so sorry that second one resulted in mc. It so hard isn't. Stay rested and positive. Maybe heal and let your period come back before trying again. I'm waiting for my period to.come back after my mc a few weeks ago and than I will ttc. Hopefully that Injection will help you. Also read aspirin has with ladies that had previous mc.. hopefully we will have our babies soon. Amen

Graced05111991 · 18/02/2021 08:02

@Lizbb I definitely need a break from all this its all happened in the space of a month and a half. Thank you I hope we do too. I'm going to spoil that baby rotten!! Xxx

OP, I'm so glad you had it checked and diagnosed, this could have had a far worse effect on you if it was delayed 💐 Sorry for your loss. I've never had an ectopic but I'm a recurrent miscarriage patient after 3 consecutive losses and currently pregnant with my baby boy, 15 weeks. What I will say is that ectopic pregnancy is different to a "usual" MC (if there is such a thing, as every MC is different) in that it is unlikely to have the same reason. An ectopic is usually a random event whereby for some reason the egg did not travel far enough to implant itself in utero correctly. You should have your tubes and womb checked over. The advice regarding baby aspirin is likely to be irrelevant to you in the context of ectopic pregnancy. Baby aspirin is relevant to those with thrombopholia type disorders and/or recurrent miscarriage patients. As far as you know now, you are neither. You can be tested privately or on the NHS but the latter is offered after 3 consecutive losses. I was tested and my results were fine, however APS (ie sticky blood syndrome) can develop in pregnancy. I am on baby aspirin until 36 weeks and was on cyclogest too, both precautionary. I would discourage anyone from taking aspirin without consulting the doctor first in case you have a disorder which can become worse as a result. So either get tested privately first or at least consult it with your doctor before you start. FWIW it would not have made any difference to the outcome of this pregnancy because it would have had no impact on it being ectopic.

Sorry for your loss again and wishing you every luck xx
