Hello Smile

This is my first time posting on here but really enjoy reading others experiences as this is my first pregnancy.

I am just looking for some reassurance whilst it's the weekend and I can't contact the hospital.

I received the letter for my first scan today and the date they've given me I will be 16 weeks pregnant, I have opted in for all the checks that are usually carried out between 12-14 weeks and from what I've read 16 weeks would be too late for these checks?

I can't think of any reason why they have given me a date so late into my pregnancy? I am worried it's going to be difficult to get an earlier appointment, has anyone else experienced this?

I had my booking appointment last week at 8 weeks so they're aware of my dates?

Thanks in advance for any help Daffodil

This happened to me in my last pregnancy. I called the ultrasound department direct and (politely) complained. They brought it forward to 14+3 which was the earliest slot they had free.

This definitely sounds too late! Call the antenatal department and I'm sure they will bring it forward x

I’d ring them up. When I booked in my first scan they tried to give me a later date as they miscalculated my date of last period. It sounds like they’ve made an error.

Unfortunately it is dependant on your trusts patient volume atm.

They should make every effort to see you before 14 weeks if you want the NT testing. I would give them a calland explain that you want the testing and need an earlier appointment. They will likely put you on a waiting list and contact you if there is a cancellation, there will be some with early miscarriages.
There are alternative tests that can be done later if you miss the deadlines though.

Thank you all for replying and for the reassurance, hopefully they've just made a mistake. I'll give them a call on Monday, fingers crossed they'll have some earlier appointments available Smile
