MC tested negative but Ovulation positive. Help

I ladies abit of advise or experience needed please. I had a MC a few weeks ago and am hoping to TTC as soon as possible. My period hasnt started yet but I have just done a pregnancy test and has come back negative after couple of weeks of testing. When I test the ovulation test it says positive but I don't think this implies I'm ovulating because I've been testing the ovulation strips each day and it says the same thing. Slightly confused. Could it be that i just need for my hormones and my body to go back to normal or could I be ovulation and ready to ttc.
Would anyone wait for their first period at least or has anyone tried straight away and conceived?
Thank you

They advise to wait for your period so that it's easier to track dates ect.
I believe you are quite fertile and ovulate quick quickly after a miscarriage a lot of the time

Lizbb · 13/02/2021 13:51

@SnooperTrooper12345 thanks for your reply. Just don't wanna rush to have another mc. It was a hard experience

There isn't any proof that not waiting increases your chances of another miscarriage. So please don't worry about that ❤️

Moominmiss · 13/02/2021 17:17

@Lizbb when you say the ovulation is positive, do you mean that the test line is as dark or darker than the control line?

Because if there is a line there every day but it’s lighter than the control line, that isn’t classed as a positive test, as most women will see a line most days of their cycle. It’s only when it’s gets as dark or darker than control that will be classed as a positive.

Lizbb · 13/02/2021 17:32

@Moominmiss hiya hun. Yea the ovulation strip line is just as dark as the one there. Both lines are very dark but it has been like this since I test on it a week after mc. Tested today for the pregnancy strip and it shows 1 line. The second line is soooo faint u have to look veryyyyy hard. I'm confused. Not sure whether to wait for my period hence why I havent even dtd.

Hello OP,

I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Sending you love.

I miscarried last year on November 26th, I would have been around 6/7 weeks. It was a natural miscarriage. I was devastated. I ovulated 14 days later, fell pregnant and now have a healthy 5 month old. I know it’s definitely not for everyone but there was just something in my head that told me I wanted to try again.

Xx

Lizbb · 13/02/2021 17:46

@Ritamarie85 wow amazing. So happy to hear. I'm confused as I want to try again asap but was told to wait for my first period. I have 2 kids already so was very upset when I mc. My period stick say negative now my my ovulation stick has a strong positive line.
Did you wait for your period?
What supplements did you take? I'm 36 so just wanna make sure it does happen again. I was 11 wk so hard and painful. Thanks hun

@Lizbb

I was the same. I was so upset and angry with my body. Which sounds so mental but I don’t think there’s any way to explain how you feel after a miscarriage.

So I went to see my OB after my miscarriage (we live in America) and I asked her if I had to wait for a period. She said no, they only reason they like you to is for dating the pregnancy. So I just went for it. She also prescribed me progesterone to take from ovulation day until it was time to test or my period came. I think trying again depends on whether you had to have any procedures for your miscarriage. I luckily did not.

Hope this helps xx

Lizbb · 13/02/2021 18:01

@Ritamarie85 I see. Mines was natural mc. Might just book an appointment with my gp for the progesterone. I've heard a bit bout it. Do they have to check the level via blood test? Thanks

OP posts:
Ritamarie85 · 13/02/2021 18:38

@Lizbb

Yes I had an ultrasound after the bleeding stopped. Then I had three sets of bloods taken to make sure my levels were back down. Xx

Lizbb · 13/02/2021 18:50

@Ritamarie85 did you go just through your gp to get these done? Sorry for question, this has never happen to me before.
Also when you say level do you mean progesterone or hormones?

OP posts:
Ritamarie85 · 13/02/2021 19:00

So here you will always go to your gynaecologist for anything related to this things. Instead of the hospital. Or a go. I’m sure a gp at home would prescribe progesterone. It won’t do any harm.

Oh gosh I’m not sure. Just the levels to show you’re no longer in pregnancy levels. So maybe hcg?

If you google “pregnant straight after miscarriage” loads of threads come up, I think it’s pretty common.

Xx

@lizbb unfortunately in the UK you might find the NHS wont offer any testing if this is your first loss.

In terms of vitamins etc - folic acid and vitamin D are the ones you should be on. No vitamin has been proven to prevent miscarriage and unfortunately the vast majority of miscarriages are unexplained.

I waited until FRER tests were negative before I tried again

I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks in november so I know how you feel x

Lizbb · 13/02/2021 21:01

@TheDaydreamBelievers hey hun thanks for your response and sorry for your loss. Had my mc at 11 was so hard especially when you dont no what to expect.
Did you wait for your period to start before ttc.
When did you get your AF after the mc. Havent hot mines yet and it's been around 3 weeks. The pregnancy strip say negative but ovulation strip say positive. That's also confusing cos I'm nit sure if it's the present hormones or I'm ovulating Confused
Have you had any luck in falling pregnant yet. Smile

As you're in the UK, they won't prescribe you anything as its just been 1 MC and not recurrent unfortunately.
And providing the pregnancy tests went negative, they won't scan you either.
Unfortunately there isn't really anything you can do to stop it happening. It is just one of those things. But just because you had 1 MC doesn't mean it will happen again.
My first pregnancy was a MC and then I had 2 children, and then another MC and now 32 weeks with my last baby. ❤️

TheDaydreamBelievers · 13/02/2021 21:07

@Lizbb - I had surgery rather than natural MC (baby died at 11 weeks, we found out at 12 weeks).

Took 8 weeks after surgery to get a negative test, 9 weeks to get a period.

So I'm actually only on my first cycle after miscarriage so dont know if I am pregnant this cycle yet (but probably not).

Remember that OPKs dont measure ovulation, they measure lutenising hormone. Your hormones will be all over the place so to be honest I wouldnt bother with these until after your first period.

My strategy was to try to conceive once I had negative FRER tests (the most sensitive ones you can buy). Then I started using OPKs after my first period

Lizbb · 13/02/2021 21:10

@TheDaydreamBelievers yea makes sense. Thanks so much. Keep in touch x

Lizbb · 14/02/2021 06:31

@SnooperTrooper12345 thanks hun. Happy you had kids in the end. Yea it's a shame the system has to wait until you mc 3 times before doing anything. It would be good for them to source out the issue asap. I'm 36 so hoping they can make an exception. Once my period comes back will book to discuss options with gp. If I dont try I wont no lol! Thanks and all the best

I'm sorry for your loss OP

After my MMC (needed D&C), I never actually got a negative FRER and my OPKs kept coming back positive. Ended up falling pregnant before first period

Lizbb · 14/02/2021 09:30

@PumpkinChai hiya hun. Thanks. Was so painful cos I have 2 kids already. Just praying to have another Amen.
So you didnt even wait for your period and tried again wow. Did you manage to have the baby full term? With the d&c what prompted them to do the surgery for you, did you just go to your gp?
I've checked this morning and pregnancy test is negative now and I can see the ovulation line getting fading now. Maybe period will come soon
Just concern as i heard the lining needed to heal etc
What supplements did you take?

OP posts:
PumpkinChai · 14/02/2021 10:07

D&C was needed as baby died, discovered at dating scan, and my body refused to MC on its own, waited 4 weeks.

Drs said there was no reason to wait, only if I wanted to be sure if dates then they encouraged me to wait for 1st period but they said there was no other reason beyond that to wait. Just told me to be sure I was taking folic acid and vitamin D.

Baby was born at 28 weeks due to PPROM but I've history of prem births and PPROM. Totally unrelated to TTC straight after MMC

There is no reason to wait apart from being certain of dates and we'll, how you feel mentally.
Some people's periods do take months to come back sometimes though
