Hi,

I’m suffering from depression/anxiety/agoraphobia and struggling to leave my bed. The last time I left the house was Sunday (it’s now Saturday morning). I’m worried it’s going to harm the baby as I’m hardly moving apart from a few steps a day.

I’m going to try and access some remote counselling today, but I’m just looking for some sort of reassurance that the baby will be okay even though I’m not moving around much. Does anyone know if prolonged bed rest causes complications?

Thanks in advance.

Hi OP, sorry to hear you aren’t doing well. To reassure you, the baby won’t be harmed by you not moving. The only thing I’d be worried about is that if you’re not moving for long periods of time, you’re more at risk of a blood clot. If you can, try and get up every few hours to walk a few steps. If that’s too much even just drawing circles with your feet can help.

It’s great that you’re trying to access counselling, I hope you can sort something soon. Have you spoken to your midwife about how you’re feeling?

@SpuriouserAndSpuriouser thank you so much for your reply, that is really reassuring.

I haven’t mentioned anything to the midwife, I was concerned they might just think I’m being lazy. I will give them a call on Monday.

Thanks again

Yes, do, I’m sure they won’t think you’re being lazy! Flowers
