How to get rid or residue glue on c section scar

Hello,

I had a c section nearly 5 weeks ago. I had steri strips that fell off completely nearly a week ago. I still have some glue leftover from them on the scar that has accumulated some particles from clothes etc. How do i get rid of the glue without irritating the scar?

Thanks!

This is such a pain in the arse! I remember this well. I read online baby wipes, baby oil and a soak in a warm bath can help but the only thing that shifted mine was gently rubbing the residue with my fingertips until it balled up and then I could pick it off. Very annoying stuff!

They should come off gently in the bath. No need to scrub at them as they don't need to come off urgently.

Thank you! @ithinkhedidit at what week did you manage to rub yours off?

Ooh! I know! You need 'zoff' adhesive remover wipes from a pharmacy or here: www.amazon.co.uk/Zoff-Adhesive-Remover-20-Wipes/dp/B003IDDW7O?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
I've had 3 sections and remember sending my dad off to get these in the early days much to his bemusement. They are brilliant 😂

@Wildlynx amazing thank you! Just bought this on amazon! How many weeks after the c section did you attempt to remove the leftover residue? I am 5 weeks pp and the scar seems pretty healed, no redness etc. I am just worried to rub it hard but hopefully I don’t need to with these wipes. Thanks for the tip!!

The residue really irritated me so for the 2/3rd section (as I'd been through it before and knew what to expect) I used this after about the first week or so (maybe even earlier? 'Baby' is 3.5 now so can't remember exactly), you should be fine now being gentle. They worked like magic for me, hope they do for you too 😊

I think you'll be ok if it's all healed over. Just go gently and stop if you're worried! Wish I'd known about those wipes a pp suggested!

@Wildlynx i just received the zoff adhesive removers from amazon and my glue disappeared in 1 minute!! I am so happy, thank you so much for this amazing tip!!!!!!! My scar finally doesn’t look gross and I feel so much less self conscious. It is also really good to be able to properly see what the scar looks like and how it is healing.

bio oil worked for me. If it's on skin that's not damaged in any way, nail varnish remover (with acetone) would probably work but be really carely not to get it close to the scar itself. A cotton bud could help

Yay! So pleased they worked for you too 😁
