;-(

last night had awful awful pain in left leg. felt worse than any cramp, but then every cramp feels worse than any cramp before...

same leg, same pain this morning. but shorter.

half convinced myself its DVT, which runs in my family but i have been tested for the blood disorder they all have and i'm fine.

oh darn. would ring NHS direct or my dad (a DVT geek!) but know that they will say to go straight to doctor to be on safe side and i don't want to waste anyone's time 'cause it really is prob just cramp.

sorry to bore you guys, but...

has anyone else had bad calf cramps in preg? just need to know its normal!

and second question... (sorry for this one), just wondered if anyone else had had DVT and wondered what the next sympton was, just to be aware? ie if i have another calf pain its prob alright cause hasn't moved and therefore is cramp not clot.

with your family history i would be checking it out

DVT and cramp feel similar - you can also have some or none of these other symptoms: redness, swelling, hot calf, unable to flex toes, worsening pain when you put your foot on the floor

RubySlippers · 02/11/2007 08:04

you can get cramp in PG too
don't worry about wasting time BTW
better to rule it out if nothing else

ty Ruby. I KNOW its fine... just being a bit silly. ty for the other symptoms. DH (keen footballer and cramp expert) reckons if it happens again, to put weight on heel on ground, point toe to sky and it should go quite quickly if its cramp. checked NHS website and like you, they suggested that if flexing foot and putting weight on it makes it worse then it may be more serious...

which its not, i know... there should be a littlw face with a sheepish look on it - i'll have to suffice with to cover my h'condriac embaressment

cheers

I got cramp a lot when I was pg. Used to freak my dh out good and proper when I'd wake up screaming in agony in the middle of the night . You have to flex your ankle up towards your knee as hard as you can to try to stop it. I also got restless legs, which was almost worse than the cramp.

I still think that, given your history, it'd be worth checking it out, though.

Tyaca, is there any localised redness, tenderness in the muscle associated with the cramp?
