I have had an anterior placenta in a previous pregnancy which just happened to be my easiest birth! Hopefully i get the same this time!

Looking online however seems those with an anterior placenta are more likely to suffer with back ache (this is so me!) Also a link between anterior placentas and back to back babies.

My last anterior placenta baby was NOT back to back, one of my posterior placenta babies was however and it was a bit grim. Worth being aware of how things like how you sit in late pregnancy can affect this!

We’re you nervous before your scans? I’m so worried about mine and it’s not for a while yet

@PeanutButterFalcon Yes. I think it's natural especially before you are feeling regular movements.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 19/02/2021 14:21

I’m very nervous....also nervous as I was born with a cleft lip so I know they can see this in the 20 week scan so hoping the baby doesn’t have the same! Xx

PeanutButterFalcon · 19/02/2021 14:22

@ElderMillennial I think I’m going to have a long week. I hope DH can come in. The letter said to bring him and they are deciding each day.

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I think knowing what could be shown makes the nerves so much more worse. Baby will be perfect to us no matter what it’s the not knowing

I’m nervous, mine is next Wednesday and the closer it gets the more nervous I get for some reason. It doesn’t help that my first miscarriage was a missed miscarriage was diagnosed at a private scan at 9 weeks... and I still haven’t got any movements but I’m only 17.5 weeks so know it’s quite early.

Anyone here not finding out the gender? I’m a bit tempted but we’ve decided not to.

What are people doing for exercise? I did my last run this week as my hips now hurt quite a lot for 36 hours after so realised it’s time to stop even though I feel fine otherwise. Lots of yoga for me and I’m trying an online Zumba class tonight! Good way to start the weekend!

I signed up for nct as I just moved to a completely new area so desperate to meet people. Sucks if it’s going to be on zoom but hopefully by May/June and after babies are born we’ll be able to meet in person even if the classes are online. Maybe I’ll sign up for the nhs one too just to meet more people!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 19/02/2021 14:55

@PeanutButterFalcon yeah it’s just one of them things I guess! I don’t think mine is hereditary no one else in my family has one - but it’s just another thing to think about.

@notalwaysalondoner yeah the closer I get the more nervous I am too!

Anyone else’s partners totally not nervous or worried? I keep saying ‘oh I’m nervous for Weds’ and my fiancé is like stop worrying try enjoy things it will be fine! I think I’ve done more research into things though so he’s probs blissfully unaware of the things they could potentially tell us 🙈

PeanutButterFalcon · 19/02/2021 15:08

@TiredAlreadyOhDear mine swaps between being excited and enjoying it to understanding why I’m worried and worrying too. Same as me really except one of us is usually one way and the other the opposite

ElderMillennial · 19/02/2021 15:16

@TiredAlreadyOhDear @PeanutButterFalcon @notalwaysalondoner I understand. Many of us have reasons to worry (I lost my first baby very late on) but we will all / most of us worry about our children anyway. It's natural. The odds are in our favour though.

I hope you can have your partners in. We were allowed for the 20 week scan.

I am barely doing any exercise. I have pelvic pain so can't walk far but I could do more than I'm doing. The last time I left the house was on Sunday!

I used to be signed up to Les Mills but I cancelled as I'm clearly not using it. I might try a dance video on YouTube or something though. I keep saying I'll go for a walk at lunchtime but it looks like it will rain.

pinkgin8 · 19/02/2021 15:41

@TiredAlreadyOhDear

I have felt a lot of movement, if I lay on my back I can see the kicks when he does it, they are like small little bump movements, but I was the same with the dd and felt early movements, it will happen soon, don't be worried, my scan is Friday!

Luckyelephant1 · 19/02/2021 16:14

I'm super nervous as well, my scan is on Tuesday. I'm 19+4 and haven't felt movements, at least I don't think I have. It's hard because I have IBS and am constantly a bit gurgly in my stomach anyway so I may well have had them and not realised.

Exercise wise my energy levels are good but I did a 45 minute stationary bike workout on Sunday (which I used to do all the time pre-pregnancy) and even though I took it easy it took my hips 4 days to recover 😳 so all I've done since then is a few stretches. I think once 20 week scan has come and gone I want to get into a good routine of prenatal yoga/pilates and hypnobirthing as well.

CoffeeAndCaramel · 19/02/2021 16:43

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE that's interesting!! I've been reading about it and I've read it causes awful back pain in labour as well and is more painful, hope this isn't true 😂

@PeanutButterFalcon I think it's normal to be nervous! Good luck xx

pinkgin8 · 19/02/2021 16:59

For those who have already had a second child, was it easier the second time around?? Or just as "bad" 😅

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/02/2021 17:38

@pinkgin8 my first two were very similar tbh, second was a week earlier but baby still heavier than first

@CoffeeAndCaramel my back to back labour was very much in my back, i also found the pressure on my pubic bone during this one really bad - it felt like it may shatter if i remember rightly

pinkgin8 · 19/02/2021 17:41

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I take it the heavier the baby the harder it is to push out?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/02/2021 17:43

Not necessarily @pinkgin8, gravity can be your friend with a larger baby! Dc3, 4 and 5 were all only a short pushing time compared to 1&2. Dc4 was my B2B baby. Each of my babies has been heavier than the last.

pinkgin8 · 19/02/2021 18:09

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE that is true! I've put myself down for a water birth but I bet I'll either give before or after the due date and won't get it. That happened with my first.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/02/2021 18:22

I can't stand the thought of a water birth, not sure why but the thought stresses me out! Don't think i would be allowed anyway, i have spd, i'm also high risk for PPH and have to be on the ward not in the birthing suite

pinkgin8 · 19/02/2021 20:48

I've heard it helps take the weight of you so also meaning the pain. I thought it would be relaxing or at least more relaxing than sat on a small bed!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 19/02/2021 20:54

@pinkgin8 I had a water birth with DC1 and absolutely loved it, couldn't believe the difference it made to the pressure feeling and everything felt like it was running smoothly and I felt in control. But I may have just been very lucky.

Sadly DC2 was not an easy labour, back to back (anterior placenta so that's interesting to read on here) 10lbs and hot stuck. Managed it in the end though.

I'm allowed another water birth this time and am really hoping for a repeat of my first birth.

Luckyelephant1 · 19/02/2021 20:58

I'm planning a water birth if possible. Before I got pregnant I sort of dismissed it as a bit hippy-dippy and didn't really realise it was available outside home births for some reason. But reading up on it, it does make sense and for me a warm shower or bath has always helped ease most pains whether period or muscle ache or whatever. So I figure it may help with this too! Worth a try and can always get out if I hate it.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/02/2021 20:59

@Warrickdaviesasplates, are you being monitored for another larger baby? Baby getting stuck is my worst nightmare

Mummy2O · 19/02/2021 21:06

I am going to an elective C-section this time if they will let me. With my son I did 10 hours of labour but he wasn't shifting. I ended up having an emergency section as his oxygen levels dipped.

I have an appointment with the consultant in a couple of months to discuss it. For that appointment I have been instructed to take my notes to the hospital and then go back outside and wait for a telephone call from them. They will only actually see me if they had to. It is to reduce the covid risk I guess.

I have my 20 weeks scan on the 1st. I think I am more nervous than excited at the moment.
