Bleeding and cramping at 12 weeks

Mondaymonday249 · 12/02/2021 13:46

Hi everyone.
As thread title says, I am 12+1 and have cramping (both lower abdominal as well as a feeling of some twinges around the belly button area) and brown spotting/bleeding/brown discharge. It seems to be getting a bit heavier but is still relatively light I suppose. Such a worry.

Does anyone have a positive similar story?

anyone?

Does anyone have a similar experience to share? I'm just so shocked that I seem to have made it this far, for this to happen.

No good experience with bleeding, sorry.

You need to get in to see EPAU. GP's will be shut for the weekend now so get yourself down to A&E and they will sort out a scan. No guarantee they will be able to scan the same day but they'll get you in ASAP. Good luck

Mondaymonday249 · 12/02/2021 19:36

I'm booked in this weekend, thank you. Hopefully things aren't as bad as they seem.

Sorry to hear this. I’ve had bleeding earlier on in my pregnancies and all was fine. A friend had bleeding at 16w and no problem with baby. So it can be ok.

Fingers crossed for you x

I’m sorry to hear this, I know bleeding can be quite common, hopefully it’ll be fine. Have you had your 12 week scan? Xx

BurningBenches · 12/02/2021 21:52

I had a huge bleed at 12wks at my scan. I felt like I was leaking as she scanned me, and thought it must be my bladder. As I got off the bed, she said you're bleeding as it had gone through my clothes onto the bed.
I went to the loo and passed a large clot and was convinced that was it. She scanned me again and baby was totally unphased by it. Repeat scan 4 day baby was still ok. Red blood stopped after 4days and brown blood continued for about 2.5wks. I had 2 small subchrionic haematoma.

I'm now nearly 23wks, all was fine at my 20wk scan.

Good luck OP x

I had bleeding for 2-3 days at 8 weeks during my first pregnancy and all was OK, although I didn't have cramping. It definitely can be ok but I don't think there's anything to do but try and hang on in there until your epu appointment xx

MotherPiglet · 12/02/2021 22:22

I had bleeding at 12 weeks and 16 weeks with my DS. All was fine and they checked with a scan. Fingers crossed you can get seen and checked over asap.

Mondaymonday249 · 13/02/2021 02:24

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the stories to get me through the next while. 12 week scan is days away. Will be scanned this weekend at EPU. Hoping I have a good outcome.

I hope you're ok OP.

timeforanother1 · 13/02/2021 13:42

Yes hope everything is ok.

Mondaymonday249 · 13/02/2021 13:52

Thank you. Scan is tomorrow so just trying to wait it out as best I can. I am definitely feeling shocked and have a range of negative emotions. Still cramping so I just feel very uneasy. I am also feeling so sad that all my plans for this year are looking unlikely now and that will be a bitter pill to swallow.

Thank you for messaging. It is really helpful to know there are people out there.

I had a scan at 9 weeks with heartbeat so this feels especially cruel

I had spotting at 14 weeks and was diagnosed with a very large subchorionic hematoma, and told to expect a lot more bleeding. The midwife told me that things really didn't look hopeful. I never did get any more bleeding and now have a lovely, happy 2 year old running around the house. It's not always bad news. Keeping everything crossed for you, OP Thanks

I know exactly how this feels. I had a scan at 8+3wk which confirmed a hb in July. We went to Scarborough Castle that same weekend and I was bitten by a tick, I was worried sick as they carry all sorts. 4 days after my scan I started spotting and mc that baby a few days later. It was heartbreaking but I am 13+4wk with another now and this one is doing well (very active).

Hopefully you'll have good news at your scan and you can relax a bit.

@Octoberfarm it is lovely to hear and thank you for sharing, I knew there were positive stories out there!

I hope you get on ok. It's such a worrying time. My experiences with bleeding ( just had 4th loss) aren't positive but I know people who have had bleeding and their babies were fine. Good luck xxx

timeforanother1 · 14/02/2021 22:22

@Mondaymonday249
Hope your scan brought good news.

Mondaymonday249 · 15/02/2021 14:24

Thank you everyone. Unfortunately it was not good news, but the bleeding had become heavier and red so by the time the scan came I already knew. I miscarried at home and now working through the emotions of it all and hoping for joy in the future as this is my second loss. Thank you all for you support.
