Clearblue 3+ confused

Hi there

My first post, after a year and a half of trying, well probably about 8 months to a year of properly trying, as in tracking my period and ramping up doing the deed, I got my bfp yesterday.

My cycle is 33 days and my last period was 8/01/21. I use the glow app to track it and to be fair for the last year I would usually get my period on or within one day of when it predicts. Going by glow, I should have ovulated about the 25/01/21. My period was due two days ago 10/02/21 and when it didn't show up I did a test yesterday morning. Two clear blue came back pretty quick to say pregnant and then 3+ weeks. Reading up online I'm taking this to mean I should have ovulated over 3+ weeks ago, which doesn't really tie in with my period date and predicted ovulation.

Anyway, sorry for ranting on. I'm just now a bit concerned that either I am further along that I think, or that there may be a problem with the pregnancy for my hormone levels to be quite high at this stage.

My period in January was only one day, but this isn't unusual for me, it is normal maybe 2 days long. And when I say one day, it did come on time and it was enough for me to use several tampons during the day so it wasn't just spotting. However I am now a bit worried that I might be a month further on than I think.

I don't really know what I'm asking to be honest, I'm just a bit confused and looking for some advice and what you guys experiences have been? Would it be worth getting a blood test to get my hcg levels?

Thanks in advance

I think you need to take these tests with a pinch of salt. They’re known to be very unreliable. Some successful pregnancies never even reaching the 3+ stage.

Like you say your app is giving you a predicted ovulation date. It’s not an exact science.

If your period in January wasn’t actually a period and you genuinely believe you may be further on that you think I’d suggest booking a private scan to check your dates.

All the best

3 plus means pregnant going from the first day of last period. 3 plus means ovulation 2 weeks ago ish not 3 x

3rdtimemomma · 12/02/2021 14:34

That all sounds right op.
On a 3 plus it means atleast 3 weeks pregnant meaning ovulation round the time you said x

The Clearblue website confirms that a 3+ result means 3 or more weeks since ovulation/conception, therefore the pregnancy would be dated at 5+ weeks.

These tests are of course not 100% accurate and I’ve seen posts from women who say they won’t use them.

If you think you’re further along than you first assumed, it may be worth seeking advice from your local maternity services or GP? You may have to book a private scan .. I’m not sure 🤷‍♀️

Good luck.

Thank you so much for the advice. It could just be that I've ovulate earlier but I hadn't even thought about a private scan, I'm going to check that out just now.

@claire86mum some people never get progression on these tests for whatever reason so try not to worry.
