So our son is almost 8 months old, we had a hell of a journey getting our beautiful boy, 3 miscarriages then a lot of medications once we conceived him, daily clexane injections etc. When he was a few months old I developed postnatal psychosis which I did NOT see coming and resulted in me being in a mum and baby unit for 5 weeks in September/October.

I'm now well and have recently stopped taking olanzipine as I was gaining weight really quickly. For the past week I've had itchy nipples and immense pickle cravings so I did a pregnancy test this morning just to check and it's positive!!! My fiancé and I are in absolute shock, we were planning on trying again later this year initially but had pushed that back after I became unwell.

Thing is we're totally confused as to whether this pregnancy began in October or 3 weeks ago! We had unprotected sex once in October then I went on the mini pill which stops my periods. 3 weeks ago we had sex and I had missed 3 days pills as I had run out. My tummy is round and hard and my boobs huge but I have put this down to weight gain from olanzipine!

It's driving us crackers not knowing so I've booked a private dating scan for tomorrow afternoon, just looking for thoughts or opinions? Sounds ridiculous not knowing and now I'm feeling my tummy it does feel super round and firm but I genuinely have been gaining weight since starting olanzipine (also in October) 🙄🤷‍♀️

Congratulations Flowers

By october how many weeks are we possibly talking? Also is olanzipine safe in pregnancy?

WineInTheWillows · 11/02/2021 20:46

No idea, OP. If it was from sex 3 weeks ago, a clear blue with weeks indicator should come up as 1-2 weeks, whereas from October it should read 3+. Any way to get your hands on one?

Mama1980 · 11/02/2021 20:48

Wow your mind must be in a whirl.
Is your medication safe to take during pregnancy? I hope you get some answers tomorrow. A scan definitely seems the right idea.

babyt2020 · 11/02/2021 20:52

Thank ladies, I stopped the olanzipine and my venlafaxine is safe. Funnily enough I was discharged from my perinatal team just today and he said to contact PRE conception for advice on our next baby, now it turns out I could be 18 weeks gone! There was so much going on during those months with me recovering etc it stupidly didn't cross my mind 🙄

We're over the moon but completely baffled so roll on 3.15 tomorrow!! The people at the scan place are going to think (rightly) that we're bonkers!! I'm 38 and my partner 47 so we wanted another close together, just a shock as we planned to try around September!

If symptoms and cravings are just kicking in would say maybe just 3 weeks ago but you never know. I didn't have post natal phycosis but did have post natal depression after my first and u do need to keep a good eye on urself after 2nd but good news is I now have 4 and only ever got it after my first

Sexnotgender · 11/02/2021 21:12

Oh gosh! Hope all ok Flowers

Ritamarie85 · 11/02/2021 21:20

Congratulations OP Flowers

So this happened to me a few weeks ago. I spent the whole of January very sick. Thought it was a bug. Anyway I decided to book a dr appointment but also did a quick pregnancy test to rule it out and it immediately turned positive. I have a 5 month old and three year old twins. I was also on the pill. Anyway I went to see my OB the next day (we live in America) and she did an ultrasound. I was 9 weeks pregnant! Shock of my life. I assumed I was over 7 as I was so sick.

Anyway congratulations. It’s a shock. But a lovely shock xx
