Growth Scan

Hi, I'm pregnant with my first baby, I'm currently 34+4 and I had a midwife appointment yesterday. She said the baby was growing at slow growth and has referred me to the hospital for a growth scan. I'm what is know as a worrier😂 so I'm now panicking a little bit, I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it took the hospital to get into contact with them for their growth scan. Thankyou xxx

Try not to worry, I’m 32 weeks and was sent for a growth scan due to my bump not growing enough according to my chart.

My bump measured under 10th percentile, but scan said baby was at 75th percentile! So not small at all.

I had my scan within a week.

I had many growth scans with my littlest as I was "small for dates" but my DD was nearly 8lb so try not to worry.

It took about 4 days for them to organise my first growth scan (it was on a Saturday!) and then I've been having them every fortnight since.
They just measure parts of the baby and plot it on a graph compared to your 20 week scan, then probably do another one to plot it again so that they have 3 marks on the graph to go off as to whether baby's size is progressing as it should.

My bump measurements slowed towards the end of my pregnancy but I was already having growth scans for other reasons and DD was growing just fine.
Just think of the growth scan as an extra chance to see baby.

You should get your appointment within a week. Please try and stay relaxed and positive thinking only ThanksSmile

I spent the entire 2nd & 3rd trimesters attending growth scans and consultations every other week, "preparing for the worst" to then give birth on time, to a healthy and average weight / hight baby. I know these procedures are in place for a reason and save many Babas & Mamas lives, but no one seems to care that the worry they cause to some expectant mothers are absolutely horrendous! Worrier here too OP! At some point I had the US technician telling me my baby was tiny for his age and my fluid level critically low and may have to deliver at 32 weeks, for then the midwife telling me I had an oversized bump and need to go in for monitoring as baby is huge or I have too much fluid 🤔🤦🏼‍♀️

Hiya, I didn't have any growth scans with my previous Pregnancy but they predicted he would be 6lb! He was born 10.3lb 🤨 try not to worry to much ( easier said than done) but they do get it wrong a lot of the time. Good luck xx
