I miscarried 3 weeks ago at roughly 4/5 weeks and had a scan around a week and a half ago confirming I wasn’t pregnant and there was no sign of pregnancy I bled heavy for a few days and then it slowed down after 4/5 days since then I have had light bleeding when I wipe have dtd a few times over the past few week I did a test as symptoms started coming back and it was pos called EPAU up and they said can stay in system for up to 6 weeks the only thing is my bloods were at 40 hcg around a week and a half ago then I had a call after another set of bloods confirming it had dropped and there was no chance of pregnancy I. I did a clear blue test today and it was 1-2 weeks ! I’m so confused could I have gotten pregnant again 🤷🏽‍♀️ Only stopped bleeding two days ago 😩 I feel so fed up.
Sorry for long winded post.

💐For you op. Yes up to six weeks. So keep taking pregnancy tests until you get a negative. However It could also be a sign if retained product which is what I had so if after six weeks still positive you need to call them. To be honest it's only been three weeks it's probably just on the decline still. You can so gp for hcg test. (If they will oblige!)

Then use ovulation sticks. If it's only been three weeks it's unlikely that you will have been through first part of a cycle and ovulated.

Hope I have understood correctly and Hope that helps I don't think i have been very clear! I've had two miscarriages and they are awful.

That why it can be recommend to wait for first period.

cherrypiepie · 10/02/2021 11:39

Re read you op and seen you had a scan so unlikely to be retained product. Unfortunately you just have to wait it out Thanks

SnooperTrooper12345 · 10/02/2021 12:04

Sorry its confusing!
My test took over 4 weeks to go negative.
It'll just be a waiting game I'm afraid.

Paige9625 · 10/02/2021 12:22

It just feels like it has been such a long process and I feel like I’m holding on that a miracle will happen really 😩

@Paige9625 sorry to hear of your loss. I mc at 11 weeks just over 2 weeks ago. I've tested both ovulation and pregnancy test and it's still positive although I havent dtd.
I'm hoping for my period to come back in the next week or so, however they did say it can take up to 6 weeks before your hormones goes back to normal. If it passes that time speak to your gp as they may need to give you hormone pills or do an internal check up. Just keep doing the pregnancy test till it say negative. Unfortunately I think what u are experiencing is from the mc.
When do you think you will ttc (they normally say after your first period)
Did you have a natural mc?

Paige9625 · 13/02/2021 10:18

@Lizbb I’m sorry to hear also. I have read up and I’m more confused due to being 4/5 week as I have read the hormones should drop quicker ? We have DTD a few times since although we are not actively ttc. And yes it was natural as by the time I had a scan everything had passed and the guy said there was no signs of a pregnancy or bleeding at all yet have bled on and off for the last few weeks.

I’m just extremely confused nothing has been explained to me by anyone.

Best thing to do is contact your doctor.
Have you taken another test?
You are a lot more fertile right after a miscarriage

Paige9625 · 13/02/2021 12:27

@SnooperTrooper12345 I have since taken a test 3 days after and it’s still 1-2 weeks going to do another on Wednesday and go from there I think.

I still had positive pregnancy test. For 2 and a half months or so after my MMC. Sadly it can just happen sometimes.

Hey everyone,

been reading loads of posts on here and they’re giving me so much hope, but I do feel like I’m clutching at straws.

I am almost 6weeks, I think 5w5d - started heavily bleeding yesterday (bright red) - I had to get on a flight and experienced quite bad cramps for around 3hours, whilst still heavily bleeding. Basically a really bad period.

today the cramping has stopped, but still bleeding (not as heavy but when I wipe still bright red) and passed some tissue/clots (not sure what exactly I’m passing) pregnancy tests still positive but I know this can happen!

im 100% sure I’ve miscarried and it’s breaking my heart but anyone had anything similar that didn’t end in mc?

I have a scan in a few hours so will update when I know but the next couple of hours are going to be the worst yet!

keep thinking what I could’ve done differently to prevent this from happening?!

Hi @Paige9625 i had a similar experience, in March I mc (had been pregnant roughly 9 weeks but baby stopped developing around 5 weeks). I was told to re-test after 3 weeks and contact my EPU if still positive to check for retained products.
i waited 4 weeks to retest, which was positive and it did turn out to be a new pregnancy (currently 8 weeks). Apparently as PP said you really are more fertile after pregnancy/ mc so it can happen.

if you can wait a week to retest just to see if your levels have reduced (negative test) or increased to 2-3 weeks, that would be beneficial; however I totally understand it’s not that easy.
otherwise, i would advise you to contact EPU / GP (if you need a referral) as they may wish to scan you to check for retained products or to see if it’s a new pregnancy.

Hello @Paige9625, sorry for your loss. I'm currently 6 weeks and 4 days post-D&C and was still having due stealers at three weeks. I'm still testing faintly positive now, even though AF arrived on Saturday. I've had two follow up scans and a 48 hour blood draw - the scans were clear and the numbers were going down very, very slowly.

The midwife said that for some ladies it just takes a lot of extra time. It's a horrible wait. Sorry you're going through it too.

KittyFantastica · 07/05/2024 14:19

Oops, sorry, I tagged the wrong person - I meant to tag @Hopeful26

Hopeful26 · 08/05/2024 20:23

Thanks all. I sadly did miscarry as expected and bled for 3 days - very light spotting now and just taking it easy for a while!

Hope everyone is doing okay!

Mummy2O · 08/05/2024 23:55

Thinking of you. I hope you are OK and have someone you can talk to. Sending you love.
