Miscarriage at 5 weeks?

o we started trying for a baby December 2020 and was very shocked but happy to learn that we conceived straight away. Fast forward 2 weeks and I start blood spotting. Panic. After a lot of hassle to even be seen due to COVID. (I was told first of all to just let nature take it's course and do a test in 3 weeks to check, they sent me an e-mail on how to deal with miscarriage at home setting) I finally managed to be seen and had a vaginal scan and saw what I think was just the sac. I had 2 tests of bloods done 24 hours after each other one was 318 and next was 290 so a slight drop. I was told it was an early miscarriage. Fast forward 5 days and the bleeding has stopped (it didn't get any wore than spotting and I didn't experience any pain) I have been doing a pregnancy test every day since the scan as I was planning on doing a blog about my my miscarriage experience. The line on the pregnancy strip seems to be getting darker not lighter every day.

My question is, is it possible that I was miss diagnosed as having a miscarriage? Could I just have been earlier on in the pregnancy than I thought? I am still feeing very sick and sore boobs. I know it takes time for hormone levels to decrease but surely it should have started to decrease by now.

Thank you in advance everyone.
X

They normally say when you miscarrying you loss the pregnant and the hgc level drop quickly.

I’m constantly scared of this happening so I do the clear blue week indicator test to see if the weeks dropping x

The only way to confirm is to get a scan. I thought that Blood tests should be at least 48 hours apart rather than 24 hours in order to check levels are doubling, but those HCG levels possibly sound a bit low for around 5 weeks. In your situation I’d look for a private scan to get some answers. Either way you’re still getting positive tests and a continuing pregnancy remains a possibility. Having had 4 miscarriages myself I know that typically there is very little support given in the NHS and I’ve always used private scans for confirmation of pregnancy and in cases of bleeding.
I bled from 6-12 weeks constantly with my daughter though, so it’s not always a sign of miscarriage.
Good luck.

Thank you for your responses ladies. Going to buy a clear blue indicator test and see what that says and go from there. Will let you know how I get on. Thank You. x
