Anterior placenta - movements

Just wondering if anyone who has / had an Anterior placenta can spread some light on when they felt Baby move and what it felt like?

I’m 19+4, sometimes at night I think I feel something not for long and not every night but to be honest I’m not sure if it’s in my head.

Hiya, I’m 21 weeks today and have an anterior placenta. I felt my first clear movement dead on 20 weeks . I thought I felt little flutters leading up to that but then it was obvious when they were proper movements .

I was so worried that I wouldn’t feel anything at all until at least 24 weeks but I feel him more or less all day now.

My placenta is on the right hand side though so I only ever feel him low down and on the left . If you haven’t had your 20 week scan yet, might be worth asking them where your placenta is . You can clearly see on my scan that it’s on the one side xx

Mine felt like little twitches to begin with, & even then I thought I was imagining it. It’s only because when I started feeling undeniable movement it was in the same place as the little twitches

I’m 27+4 today and I’ve still never felt her central, only ever low down or to the side.

I'm now 25 weeks pregnant with baby #4 BUT my first pregnancy with an anterior placenta..
I started feeling definite kicks at around 21/22 weeks.. I mostly feel them at the sides ( because obviously the placenta is at the front ) xx

Forgot to say it feels just how you imagine really . Something wriggling underneath your skin or sometimes more obvious movements . They’re unmistakeable to me x

I had an anterior placenta in my second pregnancy. The kicks and movements were definitely ‘dulled’ in comparison, however if it was my first I doubt I’d have noticed to be honest. I still felt all the lovely little flutters! Just try and get a grasp on whats normal for your baby - I did end up in triage with 2 bouts of reduced movement (but they assume it was just how baby was lying) so nothing to worry about.

Hi, I have a high anterior placenta and felt flutters at around 13 weeks but it is my second pregnancy. I did notice that movements felt a bit dulled between week 15 and week 20 but I'm now 31 weeks and there's not much difference between movements with my previous pregnancy where I didn't have an anterior placenta.

I had an anterior placenta and mainly felt movements toward my sides/under my ribs... Most movement for me was between 22/29 weeks.. He was breech for a while too and then laid sideways so in general was just awkward ha ha

I didn't feel him at all before 20 weeks x

I have an anterior placenta and felt definite movement at 19 weeks, but I'm pregnant with my second.
With my first (posterior placenta) I didn't feel definite movement until 20/21 weeks

SunnySideUp2020 · 09/02/2021 09:00

20/21w definite kicks.
Felt weird things around 19w and a kick but thought i imagined it.
My placenta is in the front but still feel kicks all over the bump. Even where it is...

I've had anterior for both my pregnancies. Pregnancy 1 I didn't feel movement until about week 21/22. I'm currently 19 weeks pregnant and have felt movement for a few weeks, very subtle and in frequent but I think that's because you generally feel it earlier in second pregnancies.

Humpty11 · 09/02/2021 10:40

Hey, I have an anterior placenta and have felt movements since about 16 weeks. This is my second baby though. I have only felt movement once when I’ve had my hand resting on my stomach and this was when I was 22 weeks, I’m now 23 weeks and can still really only feel movements internally.

CheeseandWine91 · 09/02/2021 11:13

I'm 29 weeks and have an anterior placenta. This is my first baby so nothing to compare to, but I didn't knowingly feel anything until 21/22 weeks and didn't feel him every day until about 24/25 weeks. Now I feel him throughout the day and am very aware of what is him, even the faintest twitches. Now he's bigger I can really feel him when he turns or rolls, I am told when you get to the 31/32 week stage the kicks are less because the baby doesn't have enough room to kick. This of course doesn't mean the movements are less, just the big kicks!

Curiosity101 · 09/02/2021 11:26

I think I was around 19 weeks when I felt movement. By 22 weeks I could see kicks from the outside if I laid perfectly still on my back and waited. The kicks just looked like muscle spasms/twitches from the outside.

emmafou1807 · 09/02/2021 12:01

I felt what I could only describe as 'gas' from about 18 weeks but was in reality little one moving about in there. Didn't really feel any proper proper movements until 24/26weeks. And it was about 26/27weeks before they were strong enough for my partner to feel, before that I could feel it inside but he couldn't feel a thing. Movements got really strong about week 32 when his legs clearly extended past my placenta but then he shifted back behind and they haven't been as strong again. I still feel him move all the time but it's cushioned almost by my anterior placenta.

Nat4392 · 09/02/2021 13:46

This is my first baby and I have an anterior placenta. I felt the first bits of movement around 18 weeks. I’m now 24 weeks and feeling a LOT of movement!

Vogue1992 · 09/02/2021 21:03

Thank you all for your replies, so very varied. Hopefully by 24 weeks movements are a lot more recognisable 😊
