Could I be having a miscarriage?

I had the implant put in last summer. I bled for 5 months straight so I got it removed November time. Was also on the pill but carried on bleeding so stopped taking the pill just before Christmas

I had unprotected sex New Year's Eve. Now bleeding for the first time since then. Really heavy painful period.

I'm soaking through a tampon/pad within an hour and half. My periods have never been this heavy or painful.

I haven't taken a pregnancy test since having unprotected sex.

But wondering if this could be a miscarriage?

It could be a chemical pregnancy or just a late period, you could try a pregnancy test.
If you were pregnant there could be enough hormone left for a test to detect but not always at such an early stage.
You may never know either way.

Probably just a heavy period after all the hormones etc

If you were pregnant, it should still show on a test, especially if your unprotected sex was NYE.
However, as others have said, having only just finished with all those different birth controls, your period is probably going to be completely different.
