3+ weeks digital on ectopic?

Would it be possible to have an ectopic pregnancy which shows as 3+ weeks on a clear blue digital test? I know this relies on a certain threshold of hcg so I'm wondering if it would be able to rise to this level in an ectopic pregnancy?

Thank you

Yes it would. Generally one of the signs of ectopic is slow rising HCG, however sometimes ectopic pregnancies can have normal rising HCG. For 3+ you need a BETA HCG level of approx 1500, this could be possible with an ectopic. Do you have other reasons to suspect an ectopic pregnancy? The only way to rule it out is an ultrasound to check the location of the pregnancy but this depends on how far along you are. If you are getting 3+ I assume you are 4 and a half to 5 weeks at least?

@BabyC21 mainly paranoia is why I'm suspecting it as I've had a few crampy days but they do seem to be calming down. It is more central pain I'm having too and I believe ectopic is side pain?

And yes I'm 6 weeks on Friday

So first of all congratulations. Second of all I completely understand the paranoia I was the same but my advice would be wait till after the 6 week mark if you can. As I had scans earlier and just caused so much worry that was needless as all is fine. I haven’t had an ectopic but my expected was due to one sided pain in my stomach and shoulder pain. All was fine I’ll be 14 weeks on Friday, what I’ve learnt is pregnancy come with so many random pains that are all just normal. But if someone said that to me at 6 weeks I still probably wouldn’t believe it. Have you gone to your GP yet to confirm the pregnancy? If not might be good to have a chat and see what they think xx

Hi, as PP said, yes it is possible. However, if you suspect an ectopic, you must get checked straight away.
Cramps however are normal and they will only usually do a scan if you have ectopic symptoms such as shoulder pain ect.

I have an early scan booked for when I'm 8 weeks so hopefully I can hold out until then.

I'm hoping that there isn't actually a reason why I'm worrying about it as I said I'm only having slight cramping and I imagine it to be much worse with an ectopic x

It's really normal to have period style cramps for the first 10 weeks or so of pregnancy.

Yea I had 3+ with both my ectopics but mine where rare in that they had heartbeats.

Ectopics are very rare generally though so Id you don't have a history of them or abdominal surgery or blocked tubes etc the chances of you have one are very very small and yes the pain when they rupture is indescribable - I've had miscarriages with cramping and ectopics are in a totally different league
