McDonald’s and morning sickness

Seriously I have spent a week feeling so sick and exhausted not being able to hardly get out of bed, everything causing me nausea and feeling pretty rough tbh.
This morning although stricken with nausea I fancied a McDonald’s breakfast (didn’t get one). However the kids wanted one for dinner so I did. I honestly thought I would not be able to eat as even crackers make me want to heave. Yet I loved it! I’m now feeling great and not sick 🙈, I feel I couldn’t eat anything. Now I’m worrying something is wrong with the baby. I’m only 6 weeks. 😢. It’s the first time in a week I have not felt sick.

@idontlikealdi

I lived in sausage McMuffins nd haribo for 12 weeks, couldn't eat anything else.

I realised I was pregnant with my second when I woke up craving fizzy cola sweets...!

BalconiWaferAddict · 07/02/2021 21:52

Yup - I craved a fatty burger and used to sneak off at lunch to get a Burger King! Anywhere we went if I saw the BK sign that was it, we had to stop for a whopper.

Luckyelephant1 · 07/02/2021 21:59

Yup first trimester mcdonalds cheeseburgers and fries were the only thing that went down a treat (also satsumas) when the nausea was at its worst. Even now in 2nd trimester where I'm feeling much better there's times when all I can think about is a cheeseburger.

I swear there must be some sort of magic salt in their food or something, it seems to be a very common craving and you don't hear many saying they only craved KFC or Burger King... It's almost always the big M!

Not sure why this is making you worry there's something wrong with the baby even if it wasn't so common? They're not going to come out looking like Ronald Mcdonald!

AfterSchoolWorry · 07/02/2021 22:04

When I had morning sickness I survived on McDonalds and ice pops.

Oliack1417 · 07/02/2021 22:10

I used to get the train down to London a couple of times a week for work, throughout my pregnancy. The pendolino made me feel so sick. The only thing that helped was walkers ready salted crisps.
Oddly the travel sickness has stayed since pregnancy. Didn't suffer before.

stevalnamechanger · 07/02/2021 22:25

It's the only thing that helps me with any kind of nausea

KeyboardWorriers · 07/02/2021 22:28

This was pretty much the only food I could eat when I had hyperemesis. I think it is a vicious cycle as you aren't eating you feel worse. So managing to eat something means you will feel better for a bit. Try and enjoy feeling better Smile

PurplePansy05 · 08/02/2021 08:09

Yep, ice pops, Walkers and fizzy sweets too, all sound very familiar 🤣

Colacrisp · 08/02/2021 08:24

This makes me so happy haha I'm so glad you started this thread.

I have been having bad nausea for 2 weeks and I'm only 6w4d (bloody high hcg to thank)

I'm a vegetarian, I never eat McDonald's because there isn't much choice for a vegy muncher. But I have been craving McDonald's like mad! Double cheese burger, fries or Big Macs

My partner (also veggie) said to just go for it, I felt so sick it was better to eat something then nothing at all.

So I ordered a double cheeseburger and large chips, I was literally shaking unwrapping it, I didn't know what to expect 😂 it was the first time I had eaten meat in about 3 years.... I cried when I ate it haha bloody emotional wreck that I am

I loved it anyway , the other day I had a big Mac meal, I struggled to eat it, but still enjoyed it.

So now my partner laughs because I'm still veggie at home everyday, I don't crave anymore meat just the occasional burger from McDonald's....so strange

SRyellow · 08/02/2021 13:19

Hi everyone, I’m suffering with nausea bad! It has been constant since around 5 weeks (now 7). It’s pretty much all day long but even worse after 8pm. I haven’t actually been sick but just feel sick and tired everyday! Crunching ice helps a bit but otherwise coke and generally foods I probably shouldn’t be eating!

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 08/02/2021 13:28

I had hyperemesis( why can’t I spell that word 😫) on my second for NINE long months , medication just reduced the vomiting slightly.
I lived on McDonalds, craved it so much and had it on average three times a week. Dd1 at the time didn’t even eat it ( she does now !) so would still have to cook for her and dh!
I thought that after having it so often and reminding me of that awful sickness that I would not touch it after I had the baby . Unfortunately that didn’t happen and still love McDonald’s though would have one maybe once a month instead on 3 times per week now Blush

lustforlife · 08/02/2021 13:29

McDonald's was my only craving in my first pregnancy and it's looking the same this time around Grin

Skymum82 · 08/02/2021 13:42

Thanks everyone. Already want another so I can feel great this evening 😂. Also fancy chow mein noodles although feel sick 😂. So glad mc d works for so many 😂. As it really doesn’t feel it should lol

Middle of pregnancy morning sickness that lasted bloody months and months I had a Whooper with chips and lemonade. I sat in the train station and scoffed the lot. Grease was beautiful. I threw up hours later but I discovered lemonade tastes the same coming up as it did when I drank it . Brilliant

PurplePansy05 · 08/02/2021 14:37

Chow mein noodles were the only thing I could stomach from my usual Chinese menu, so you're not alone OP! Just don't overdo in on soy sauce, apparently it might not be that good in pregnancy, but once in a while you'll be fine 😊

Catchingfire123 · 08/02/2021 15:03

Another HG sufferer and McDonald’s / Burger King / KFC was my go to craving and one of the only things that stopped me feeling sick. I think it was the salt for sure as I loved salty crisps and I loved a coke.

ineedaholidaynow · 08/02/2021 15:16

Maltesers and tortilla crisps were my go to foods when suffering with morning sickness

Peachypips78 · 08/02/2021 15:22

Yeah salty carbs massively help- hence MDs making you feel better. If you don't eat enough you feel worse. It's trying to find carbs salty things that aren't too bad for you that is the challenge!

AliceMcK · 08/02/2021 15:22

I actually got a speeding ticked while rushing home to demolish my KFC when I was pregnant. My craving overrode everything 😬

bonzo77 · 08/02/2021 15:25

In my first pregnancy all I could eat was Big Macs and cream eggs. Baby absolutely fine!

Skymum82 · 08/02/2021 16:56

This is actually my 5th pregnancy (3 children lost my first one). I normally carry on eating through feeling sick. I remember being sick after a Chinese and I clearly hadn’t chewed it well it was the worse thing 😂. Also xmas roast, I’m normally in early pregnancy at xmas when pregnant. The last time I was so stubborn to eat my Xmas dinner as I was so exhausted cooking. Within minutes it all came back up was gutting as I love my food 😂🙈

Bland carbs and protein (which is basically what mcds is) are generally what appeals when suffering morning sickness and what stays down for many.

I was on boiled eggs and oat cakes (which I normally hate! and they only worked unbuttered too which is incredibly dry and all I could drink at that point was plain water I was basically on a 17th c convicts diet!) for a time when pregnant with dd. Later it was full fat milk (again normally can't stand it!) and certain bland fruits (no berries just simple things like apples and bananas) the body does weird things during pregnancy. One friend of mine was licking chalk throughout! And no calcium supplements did not cure that craving.

My ex had to cook for himself in the kitchen which was across the hall from the living room with both doors closed Draft excluders in place and the extractor fan on from before he got the ingredients out! The sense of smell I had in early pregnancy was bonkers!

Neither of them seem particularly spud like now Grin

It's funny how these things go. I went completely off spicy food in pregnancy and haven't been able to tolerate it since just absolutely doesn't "agree" with me - Dd the cause of the aversion LOVES spicy food, the hotter the better!

AnxiousWeirdo · 08/02/2021 17:01

McDonald's is great for hangovers and morning sickness alike! 😂

mumoftinyterrors · 08/02/2021 17:18

I had horrendous morning sickness with each of my pregnancies and with my first child, maccy d's breakfast was just about the only food I could tolerate 🙈
